I have a few things to say before the next event is chosen. These are some questions you should really, really think about before proposing your event.
Does the event encourage original deckbuilding? A PvP Event should not have almost the exact same rules as BL. If the only difference between your event's deckbuilding restrictions and the rules to Battle League is that your event allows a small amount of upgrades, you're going to see the exact same decks that appear in BL. Not only that, but since decks will be revealed publicly, the best strategy will be to literally copy decks from players who are better than you. That's exactly what happened in the original TCOB1, and the event went horribly. Let's learn from our past mistakes instead of repeating them.
Is this event fair to all players? There's nothing more frustrating than a loss you have no control over. It's especially awful if you're eliminated from the event because you were given unlucky circumstances, rather than because of your own deckbuilding, prediction, and gameplay mistakes. This was the fatal flaw of the original Booster Draft. One of the booster packs was extremely overpowered, and the team that drafted that pack was unstoppable, simply because of sheer luck. 3 of the Final 4 players, including both 1st and 2nd, were from the same team. There were 8 teams in total. Most of the players in that event never even had a chance, no matter how well they played.
Does the event reward the winners? Let me amend my last statement. There is only one thing more frustrating than a loss you have no control over. It is losing an event, when you never actually lost any of your games. This is usually just a problem in Team events. It is why I do not recommend events should really have teams larger than 3, and even then, I still prefer individual events. I'll just make it simple, your event should follow the "Invincible Rule". This means an invincible player who wins every single game should win the whole event. Otherwise, it wouldn't be very fair, would it?
I think RR's nameless event does a good job encouraging original deckbuilding while being fair to all players and rewarding winners. I also have an event of my own I've been thinking about lately, but I'd probably want to run it after I finish my first one, lol.
