Choose a War song!
Ok here's the deal. Each element will have it's own War page with all kinds of content. This is why we need a War song for each element. Here's what you need to do:
1. Go to http://listen.grooveshark.com/
2. Find a good song that fits your element
3. Use the "EXPORT" function to make your own widget (single song, 150px)
4. Post the embed code here. It won't work (because you need admin rights) but I'll copy paste it later to your War page.
Tips:
- we are not just looking for a good song. We are looking for a song that fits both the element and a preparation for war.
- think of it as picking a background song for a fantasy movie, right before a big battle.
- avoid vocals if possible (there's a reason why epic fantasy movie soundtracks don't have vocals).
Example War song (chosen by me, and will be used most likely as a War main song):
:aetherbig
:airbig
:darknessbig
:deathbig
:firebig
:lightbig
:timebig
:waterbig

did i inspired you ? :)

did i inspired you ? :)
Maybe. Someone said something about a song somewhere. Forgot who, what and where. Maybe it was you.

Can imagine Vampires going to battle listening to that?
You need soundtrack/soundscape/ambient/orchestra type of stuff.

Darkness Song's
Rob D - Clubbed to Death

Another good song ( good for being a war song)
Hans Zimmer - The Rock theme

Continuing the LOTR theme light could have Minas Tirith from 2:03 onwards (listening to the soundtrack now and trying to give them elements :P)

Perhaps this for Earth? It's Muse's Time is Running Out, but an instrumental version. It starts out slow, but get's pretty good later on. Really good. It's probably better without the lyrics (for a war song). And the only reason I thought of it is because part of the lyrics are "I won't let you bury it." There was also Dirt Room by Blue October, but it doesn't really work well for a war song.... I couldn't think of anything else off the top of my head that talks about earth/dirt/etc.

I have some more by Pendulum but I'll wait on that.
-
maybe later it could be replaced by a dylan song, i think plastiqe loves his music too :)
but for now electric six and fire theme.
btw, hysteria is best muse song, but i like all.

RoaD is an awesome aether song sg :P
-
AWESOME DARKNESS SONG! I get the feeling I've heard it before though and not sure it fits in with darkness theme but who cares :P. It'd be a lot better without that weird noise in background every so often.

The sampled song in the background that provides the harmony for the mix is the theme from Edward Elgar's "Enigma" Variations. That darkness song is cool, but the Enigma Variations are so much better than that remix. Not warlike enough, but amazing nonetheless :)

Possible Life song:

no lyrics but great song for the war http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,7096.0.html

I have a lush one for Light. I dunno how to get the link, but on Grooveshark, the name is "Escape (Plunkett and Macleane)" by Craig Armstrong. Make sure that exact one is chosen, otherwise you get an abridged version.
-
I have INCREDIBLY bad taste in music... I want to let someone else in my group choose.
But for now, I guess... The Sound of Silence. By Gregorian, not Simon and Garfunkel... sounds more aethery ;) :P

Wait you're not going for requiem for a tower/dream.... This other song better be good then :P or requiem should just be the overall war song.
-
Requiem isn't very aethery. It's all clashy and fighty and stuff.
Actually... the Dream version > Tower in terms of being aetherial. I think I'll go with that, actually, but I'm too lazy to go through the Export thing again. :P
-
I just like LOTR (as proven by my card ideas :P) so I'm probably being biased anyway and would prefer it as the overall war theme. Listening to the one on the first post it sounds more like requiem of a tower than requiem of a dream (according to spotify).
-
"Apocalypse now" i know the lyrics don't quite work but since it's instrumental.... and i love Muse.
<object width="150" height="40"> <param name="movie" value="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" /> <param name="wmode" value="window" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> <param name="flashvars" value="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=21373334&style=metal&p=0" /> <embed src="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="150" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=21373334&style=metal&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window" /></object>
And if any other team members on Death want to make suggestions that would be great.

You can't listen to it on the individual posts because that's just code to embed the song onto a web page. Go back to the first post where SG has the songs embedded under each elemental sign. Oh, and make sure you don't have some type of Flash blocker on.
Edit: Ninja'd by 4 words.

Ah yesss... I just got ignored... again...

I have numerous ideas for a time war anthem, but I guess I'll go with this one...
It's ancient and futuristic at the same time, it is a nice instrumental masterpiece... and it's epic. Good enough for now.

Any reason aether song reminded me of Garfunkel?

Mrs. Robinson??. Simon and Garfunkel

It's because Garfunkel sang that song. ;) This is a cover, I think, by some artist called Gregorian.

I cannot get Grooveshark to work for me. Regardless of what browser I use, I click on a song, and it says it's playing, but the little marker doesn't move, and I get no sound. :(

We need a small flash music player.
Grooveshark has millions of songs. I'm sure you can find one there.

First off, that's a horrible war song.
Second, it's called 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings'.

Did i say smth else? ( about the title of the song)

4 elements are missing. Since those Masters are not participating, anyone can now post a song suggestion for any of the missing 4 elements.

Life should have welcome to the jungle :P, don't know if it's on grooveshark though

Here we go, team :entropy entry!

Okay, I literally just woke up, but I guess breakfast can wait.
Welcome to the jungle is by far the best idea any of us have had, since left to the wolves was disqualified on account of being not on grooveshark. Thank you very much miniwally.

For :entropy entropy theme, what about the song "Dance of Eternity" by Dream Theater... Is sounds quite messy and unpredictable here's the link to the song on grooveshark http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/search/songs/?query=dance%20of%20eternity
-
For any team that needs a song: Conquest of Paradise - Vangelis ()
It can be considered a war song, and it matches almost any element.

I liked this for :entropy : http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/artist/Venetian+Snares/35850
There is a song called "Scerenzsetlen" , but other songs are good as well. I also liked Dream Theatre's song posted above.
And something for :death : http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/artist/Anal+lovely person/84998
^-^

Also I got it on my spotify playlist AND iTunes, Great song! :D

sg, i choose the first song on my list. that one is fine. if you cant code it the way it is, ill look for it again and get a single song thing for you.
-
I was thinking that the gravity element could have something similar to Rage against the Machine.
A song like testify or Bulls on Parade could suit it well...
Another idea for an element like fire could be the opening riff from Enter Sandman by Metallica.
-
the first 2 songs have vocals... oh sg, does o fortuna count as vocals? because i was kinda thinking that. but it didnt sound very wary. if that makes sense...
-
I see absolutely nothing wrong with vocals. We were thinking of taking a punk feel anyway.
