Duo-Decks / Re: Perpetual Light (standard RoL/Hope)
« on: October 30, 2010, 11:12:37 pm »
I usually use a mixed ratio of Hope with my deck. Two normal and one upgraded, or vice versa, depending on whichever you favor. I find that the choices presented can be helpful, as having one less normal Hope in your deck is very, very, unlikely to make a difference (it would only make a difference if you're short exactly one Light Quantum and you have your upgraded Hope and neither of your other two and you're either going to die or lose your quanta next turn), whereas throwing in an upgraded version could save you once in a slightly greater while. In most cases, when you draw two Hopes, you'd be presented with a choice, which is always good. By having both versions in your deck, you can also gain the benefit of both worlds: get the cheap one out quickly and when you have more light quanta, replace it with the upgraded version.

One last thing.  With my previous most, I've cleared up pretty much everything except for why I called his first deck terrible.  To be honest, it was entirely because from what I had heard, Dragoon1140 made the first deck that Killsdazombies used.  It's sort of a...well, there's not really a phrase for it, but somewhat of a "running joke" that Dragoon1140 and I have.  I make everything out to be like my decks are really great, and his suck terribly, even though that is, of course, not the case.

Anyway, I'm leaving now, so I don't really have time to reply when asked why I called the deck terrible, as it could have been misinterpreted easily.  Like I said before, I mostly expected Killsdazombies to laugh it off and say that he was proud of his somewhat-underhanded-albeit-legal tactics.

That is all.  Per Killsdazombies' request, these posts can be deleted now.

This post is about me and Killsdazombies.  If you don't care about our little dispute, I advise you skip it.

Right.  If that was smack talk, then your double-action of posting and sending me a whisper in chat is spam.  That is not smack talk, and it has absolutely no inflammatory intention behind it.  If you would even consider the circumstances under which you won, instead of the simple, surface fact, you might eventually come to agree with me.  The only reason I "talked smack", as seen in my saying "Hope you're proud of yourself there, Killsdazombies", was because you didn't seem to at all understand the circumstances that allowed you to win.  I was trying to clear that up for you, and that is, in fact, my only intention with these posts. And to be honest, I kind of expected you to smile and say that you were in fact proud of it.

Additionally, your game summaries are extremely misleading.  My first game was slow because I drew all of my Pendulums in the first few turns.  I like how in the second game, you're focusing on how close you were to winning, whereas you don't even begin to include any circumstances which allowed me to be close to winning in your other summaries.  For example, in the third game, you were in a very tight corner.  The only thing that saved you (apart from copying my deck) was your Antimatter.  Hardly an easy smackdown, and most would consider it a good game, because it actually was pretty close, despite the HP difference at the end, which anybody who has any experience whatsoever with this game knows doesn't mean much.  I might be sore about it, but if I was on the winning end of that battle, I would hardly consider it to be an "easy smackdown".  And incidentally, if my calling your first deck terrible is to be considered inflammatory smack talk, then calling that match an "easy smackdown" is just as much so.

If you have a problem with me, take it up via PM or chat whisper.  You don't need to waste the time or space of this thread.

Unholy Spirit faced Killsdazombies.

Killsdazombies' deck beat his.

This is the first deck I used.

Code: [Select]
4vh 4vh 4vh 4vh 4vh 4vh 4vl 4vp 4vp 4vp 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 5uo 5up 5up 5up 5v0 5v0 5v0 5v0 5v0 5v0
6 Voodoo Dolls and 10 Entropy Pendulums.

A very standard kind of deck that he wouldn't be expecting.  Out of the first 10 cards I drew, 8 of them were pendulums.  In a 10 pendulum deck.  This was the only, and I do mean only reason that his deck bested mine.

For the second two battles, I used this deck.

Code: [Select]
4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 590 590 593 593 593 593 593 593 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5ul 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5ur 5us 5us 5uv 5uv
6 Earth Pendulums.

One of the more brilliant decks I've designed; I easily beat Killsdazombies in our second match.  Then for the third match, Killsdazombies essentially copied this deck, claiming victory with an Antimatter.  Though my decks (especially in the case of that terrible first deck he used) and strategies (he made three mistakes by my count, whereas I made none) were better than his, his managed to best mine because of unfortunate circumstances on my part, and the fact that he completely stole the idea of my second deck for his (which he admits to doing).  Hope you're proud of yourself there, Killsdazombies.

I like the idea, even though it's impractical and liable to bad draws..  I would definitely have at least four copies of Fractal, however, and maybe a sixth Ray of Light.  Obviously, the problem with a pillar-less version is that you wouldn't have enough Aether quanta to support that many copies of Fractal, so I might advise taking out the Supernovas and maybe some of the Fire Creatures for Aether Towers.

Ah, sorry. I forgot to include another gravity pillar in the deck I posted. I tried to post it from memory, because it's the only deck I didn't have the code written down for. Hence, the mistake.
I was spectating the match, and his opponent can confirm this as well, but vrt had played three gravity pillars (in a relatively short game), for whatever it's worth.  Just means it's pretty unlikely that he did indeed have only three.

which variant of RoL/Hope works the best for you?
It's difficult to say, even without factors such as whom you're fighting, and any kind of special restrictions or limitations that the battle may have.  My favorite "RoL/Hope variation", however, would be my own Despair (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,10229.0.html), which, if not for theme, versatility, or variety, can be a very useful alternative under specific circumstances.

Yes, I know; whom.  Crazy, right?  It's almost as if I know how to speak properly....

alright, we need a team jacob, team edward, and team hellsing.
I think you mean Helsing. It was spelled that way in the original Dracula, and I don't believe it's changed since.  Unless you mean the anime.

But what would I know, right?

Wait, this thread still has a relevant topic?

You know what you need to do?  You need to make 2 worms of each element, including Other, and have their names all begin with a different letter of the alphabet.

I wonder if anybody will even get that reference.
