Birth and Death / Death and Rebirth + a Revelation! https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=54538.msg1136595#msg1136595

[Birth] generates 1  :life at the end of your turn and then 'flips,' similar to a pendulum, to  :death for your next turn.

Upgrade the card to [Death] and it starts play generating 1  :death; generates a :death at the end of your turn and then flips to  :life, as an upped pendulum does.

These are both  :life cards.

[Death] generates 1  :death at the end of your turn and then 'flips,' similar to a pendulum, to  :life for your next turn.

Upgrade the card to [Rebirth] and it generates 1  :life when played; one :life at the end of your turn and then flips to :death, as an upped pendulum does.

These are both  :death cards.

Now ... this next part is what will truly make this line of cards chase ;)

[Living to die] and [Dying to live] / [Dying to live] and [Living to die]

These are the same as the cards above but only ever flip once!

Like a [Nova], this gives a player incentive to collect and play, both upped and unupped versions of a card.

Cycles?  A new type of card that stacks like pillars and pendulums do; plays to the same zone as pillars and pendulums; can be targeted by all the same cards and effects a pillar or pendulum could be; may start new stacks based on which side is 'up'

Here's a deck idea that would benifit from this cycle:

So you mean [Living to die] and [dying to live] generate a type of quanta once, and then always generate another type of quanta? How does that help your deck?

Also, the top half of yar post refers to cards which do the same thing as pendulums.
When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.

In a lot of trio ideas I have, I only need a very small amount of an off color, and a lot of other(s).  This factor's that in.  Imagine if it started play giving a  :water in the sample deck then flipped to :death or :life.

Also, the top half of yar post refers to cards which do the same thing as pendulums.

Very similar, but with one major exception: your mark can be any other element!  ;)  This also allows you to minimize an off element while maximizing your quanta production for the elements you need more of.

Thought on the 'Cycles':  Probably only opposing elements would be used for these 'cycles'.  Or there would be so many combinations to make our heads would spin and reality would warp coming up with logical connections that just don't exist between some elements.

Imagine this same idea with  :earth as the starting element.  An easy way to splash [Protect Artifact], without going [Nova].  It's better than [Nova] because you will, from then on, be generating the decks main element.  (and as a bonus - you're not giving 11 extra life if you're hit with [Blackhole]) If it started producing  :darkness ; [Nightmare].   :time ; [Reverse Time]   etc etc

It's not the strongest card idea, obviously. I just fully believe Elements needs more quanta options to better utilize the cards already in the game.

Oh, and a card starting on  :entropy and going  :time thereafter is exactly what one of my favorite decks needs:
