New take on PC, a possible addition to Life https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=41372.msg512697#msg512697

I'm developing an idea for the permanent version of guard. It's far from complete.
Would prevent effects of 1 shield, weapon, or other permanents. Prevents use of skills they have.
Here's the breakdown of the idea:

-A permanent that heals for 3hp per turn.
-Play cost would be around 7 :life
-Has a once per turn skill (that is yet to be named) that locks the effects of another target permanent. This lock-down prevents the healing effects of this permanent.
-Skill cost would be around 2 :life or :light if you want to restrict it to a duo.
-Might exclude targeting of pillar stacks.

This idea is not exclusive to life. Could work for any element (one that would benefit from at least weak PC). Replace the healing effect with one that compliments that element.

Maybe a delay? Lock-down seems OP.

how about a permanent that has a spread-like effect? imagine a permanent that has an active ability that could turn pillars and permanents into shards of gratitude? you could turn your own to get more healing, destroy some pillars of the other deck, with the drawback of providing healing. not sure if it should be able to turn shields and weapons, but it could work very well in  :life

Please keep it mono.

You might want to look into the card Vines.

Aww man, someone beat me to it. My idea was vine based too, like an overgrown invasive species.
Mine was different in that, it's a permanent, and you had recast every turn like guard.

Assuming I don't trash this... which I probably will:

The original cost would have been 3, but giving such easy PC to life seems wrong so I upped it to 7.
The healing effect should be scaled right? 7 sound right?
If I hadn't made it clear, the healing effect only works when your not blocking something.
Or I could go in another direction altogether:
Keep the cost and heal at 3 and make it so they stack. Then you could only have 1 active way to block 1 other active permanent at a time. Very weak PC.

Any of those modifications distinguish it enough to make it salvageable?

The lockdown is "1 turn delayed single target reversible removal that can change its target". This is comparable with "instant single target removal". Nor is it easy PC considering it is reversible and delayed.

Casting cost + Activation cost should be comparable with removal
Casting cost should be comparable with healing

I do not understand what you meant by the "another direction" version.

True, but that depends on if it's going to be lockdown or delayed.

Casting cost + Activation cost should be comparable with removal
Casting cost should be comparable with healing
What I was aiming for, but I think finding the appropriate costs is quite tedious.

I do not understand what you meant by the "another direction" version.
For example: Mitosis vs SoFreedom
There's only 1 slot where SoFreedom stacks.
If this were like that, the healing effect would stack with multiple, but there could only ever be 1 target lockdown.

True, but that depends on if it's going to be lockdown or delayed.
I was assuming it could stop 1 permanent indefinitely (until removed or changed) by activating its ability once. This is comparable with Deflagration (instant single target removal).

Casting cost + Activation cost should be comparable with removal
Casting cost should be comparable with healing
What I was aiming for, but I think finding the appropriate costs is quite tedious.
Try comparing to Deflagration and Shard of Gratitude.

I do not understand what you meant by the "another direction" version.
For example: Mitosis vs SoFreedom
There's only 1 slot where SoFreedom stacks.
If this were like that, the healing effect would stack with multiple, but there could only ever be 1 target lockdown.
That would weaken the card.
