I need some help fleshing out the mechanic for this card:

I have a basic idea of what it should do. Dying non :death creatures get transformed into :death creatures instead of leaving play.

I know that I want pharaohs to convert to mummies and dragons to convert to bone or ivory dragons, but I'm not sure how to handle mapping other creatures.

This would override creature abilities / traits such as phoenix, aflatoxin, and cat (poor kitty gets mummified… should be funny!)

Any suggestions for an intuitive scheme would be appreciated.

The main idea is that players should get back a :death creature of roughly equal "worth" as the creature that died.

I haven't decided whether it fits best as a :death card or a hybrid :death and :darkness card… Creating undead minions seems pretty dark after all.
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

My 3 game-modification principles:
1. If it ain't broke, don't wreck it.
2. Simple fixes for simple problems.
3. Remember to fill in the holes.

You might be able to do it based on Attack|Defense.

Let's say that a Horned Frog ( :life) attacks you. Its attack and defense are both 3, so it gets preserved as a Flesh Spider?
A Photon is preserved as a Skeleton.
All dragons are preserved as Bone Dragons. All upped dragons are preserved as Ivory Dragons, etc.

I think this should fit as a :death card, since Boneyard also creates 'undead minions' and is a :death card.

I think this should fit as a :death card, since Boneyard also creates 'undead minions' and is a :death card.
I also completely agree that what this card does is much more :death than it is :darkness

- When you have more than 2 creautes, how are they selected and how do you know which ones have been preserved?
- What is the chance that they are preserved when they die
- What about creatures that do not have an analogous death-type creature to transform into. Eg shard golem or a highly upped fire spirit / forest spirit / lava golem / creature with antimatter played...etc

- Could it perhaps randomly generate a :dark/darkness creature? independently of its original hp/attack
