The theme of these creatures should be better defined and the goal of the series should be stated.
Currently it is just a reference to the Nymph series (which was much more defined)

What exactly do you mean? Haven't done a series before, so I didn't know...

List all the details that should be constant across the series.
Obelisk Series:
Casting Cost 2|1 of the element
Non pillar Permanent (only 6 of each per deck)
Produce 1 of the element per turn
Activation Cost 1|1 of the same element
Minor spell-like effect from the element worth about 2 quanta on a stick or ~ 1 quanta solo.
Art will be appropriately colored Obelisks (the rectangular block with a pyramid on top)

Mermaid Series:
6 | 7 Casting cost
Rather high HP whenever possible (aiming at 7 HP for upped) and lower attack
New abilities (not found in the game), and they can be powerful (here's a similarity with nymphs and also justifies the high cost)
All Arts will depict mermaids with color appropriate for their elements (not the same artwork)
All of them are creatures
All Mermaids have the perpetual ability Mermaid: Gain +1 | +1 when submerged. (subject to change for better balance)
All Mermaids have the name ~maid as ddevans posted.

Is this fine? I'll include the already approved arts in the OP to give some ideas for the cards.

Good list.
However I feel it contradicts itself with the following aspect:
Mermaid Series:
All Arts will depict mermaids with color appropriate for their elements (not the same artwork)
All Mermaids have the name ~maid as ddevans posted.
Mermaid art includes obvious Water overtones. Even if the fish's scales are orange it is not a Fire creature. From looking at the theme list, I believe that a Water Series would be most appropriate. [something like: 4 water creatures, 1 water spell, 1 water permanent]
Alternatively you could do a multielement series but only Water would have fish parts in the art.

So all fish parts are restricted to water? Mermaids can exist outside of waters (though not efficiently moving, hence low stats?)
Look at the air image, it's distinguished from fishtails. Life already has frogs, which are water creature after all.
The image of earth would be without fishtails.

Look at the air image, it's distinguished from fishtails. Life already has frogs, which are water creature after all.
The image of earth would be without fishtails.
A creature whose major thematic trait is a fish part would be Water.
Depends on the mythos. Most mythos that include mermaids have them kept in the water either through gills or having to remain moist.
The Air image was the best of the non water images. However I would expect bird parts not fish-like parts on a part animal humanoid from Air.
Frogs are amphibians and are often on land instead of in the water. They are more thematically linked to the jungle than to Water or Earth (hence Life)
If you go multielement I suggest:
:air (Bird) Aven/Raptorian/... [too many names to list]
:earth (Horse) Centaur or (Bull) Minotaur or (Goat) Satyr or (4 legged animal)
 :life (Snake) Naga
 :water (Fish) Mermaid

So instead of mermaids find 12 mythical creatures fitting the 12 elements?

6-12 half animals would be the multielement series.

Hmmm... I'll have to think about it....
Actually all the abilities could be used under any other name or image...

I've already posted Chronomaid ( :time) which gains stat boost from RT-d creatures. This could be Sphinx?

Necromaid ( :death) which uses decay to increase cost of activation. So just put up a rotting half dead and half human creature?

We could use a-
Cyclops.
Nereid.
Centaur.
Etc.
