kinda. it will never do damage to the target in its current form. so in that, yes. A warden can deal damage, this cant, at least as it sits. The idea of a negative buff as per Rutarete's link is interesting, so perhaps it could lower attack, or max HP somehow. I dont want to replace warden, or squid, but provide a middle ground unit. Mostly, I thought a giant crab would be cool.
