Im looking at a series of Weather cards. Each one is a Permanent, but only one can be in play at any time. Most recent one played is in effect. They can't be stolen or destroyed, so immaterial, but playing a new one cancels out the old one and it is discarded.

Some might have counters or a duration. Some might be able to coexist, but probably not.

Several will alter creatures or cause creatures to change.

:aether -  I have no idea yet

:air  - High Winds? flying creatures have trouble?

 :darkness - hmmm?

:death - Fog of Some kind to slow down attackers? Acid Rain?

 :earth -

 :entropy -

:fire - Heat Wave, wears down creatures? Maybe causes delay like sundial?

 :gravity -

:life - Gentle Rains, creatures regenerate 1 HP per turn

:light - Clear Skies, flying creatures get +1 Att

:time - Sand Storm, delay? Burrow creatures?

:water - Snow Storm | Ice Storm, Flooded Tiles are frozen, weak/non-flyers cant attack, scorpions cant attack

Looks like several would cause delay, probably to certain classes of creatures for a few rounds.

Great idea. I like it... but may I suggest a few revisions?

I always try to use already existing mechanics or create new ones to compliment the element it comes from.
Some of your ideas seem to also have negative effects mixed in, so try to think of negative effects that don't bother the creature "native" to that element. For instance:
Heat Wave could do 1 damage to all non-fire creatures. Compliments Fire Shield/Buckler and kinda fits the theme.

All-in-all you want to tie themes to mechanics and both need to match the element.

:life - Gentle Rains, creatures regenerate 1 HP per turn

Matches the theme, but the regeneration and healing mechanic are usually found in  :light and  :water .

:water - Snow Storm | Ice Storm, Flooded Tiles are frozen, weak/non-flyers cant attack, scorpions cant attack

I love the freeze flooded tiles thing, but why would this one be bad for it's own element?

:darkness - hmmm?

Maybe Darkness shouldn't have a weather effect.
Actually, :darkness and  :death , already have a "field" type permanent as well as  :water .
Try narrowing it down to a handful of cards for elements that need these, in your opinion.
