The Hybrid bug has got me again I will present some of my thoughts here.
Anyone else may post as well.
Keep this in mind.
OldTrees's Rules for Hybrid ...
1) Cards with a Hybrid cost (A OR B) need to fit thematically in either element.
If a card cost 1 death or darkness quanta then the card needs to make thematic sense as a Death card and make thematic sense as a Darkness card. This additional requirement comes from the flexible nature of the cost making the effect availble to either element even in the absence of the other.
2) They have to have a reason to exist as 1 card rather than 1 card in each element.
3) See normal rules for card ideas
4) Hybrid costs would require between 6 (only opposites) and 66 (all 2 element combos) cost types or a modified cost system. The ideas should be worth the added cost to implement. (Long story short : Aim for high quality when making Hybrid cards.)
More detailed explaination of "Rules" 1 & 2
Hybrid card ideas are not exactly single card ideas.
Rule 1
Old Skull Shield cost 3death for a DR 1 shield (and was suspected to be UP due to chronic underuse)
Old Solar Buckler cost 3light for a DR 1 shield (and was suspected to be UP due to chronic underuse)
Now we have Shield costing 1quanta for a DR 1 shield
But what if we had an intermediate step of a Light/Death hybrid shield
A hybrid card is the coding of 2 cards that differ only in the quanta used as 1 card with a slightly easier casting cost than before. As such both orignial cards need to make thematic sense for the final mechanically identical hybrid card representation of the 2 cards to make thematic sense.
Rule 2
Hybrid cards are a 1 card representation of 2 cards. This means it could be coded as 2 cards or as 1 hybrid card. Hybrid card ideas should be better as 1 hybrid card than 2 mono cards.
Well here is an idea for:
