I think if you wish to keep it themantically with 
you need to make it... less violent!
else you may wish to consider another element more appropriate 
I decided to do the exact opposite of what you said, although you still inspired the series idea. Instead of keeping it Light and making it non-violent, I switched to Darkness and made it more violent!
