Tribute *new card* https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=32764.msg413914#msg413914

Tribute would be a spell card.
Would cost somewhere along the lines of 0-3 random quanta.
Effect is sacrifice 2 of YOUR creatures on field, and choose any card, but only ONE, from your entire deck to play that turn. (Kinda like your entire deck is your hand for one turn)
Picture of the card could be an Ankh.

That would probably be hard to code.

Additionally to what has been already mentioned,

1) It should probably stick to one element. Cost of three of a certain element seems decent, given that you must sacrifice creatures.

2) Sounds like a last-resort method when you seriously need certain cards, like a shield or a miracle, but I don't think it will be widely used, as people plan their decks so that they often don't have to use a last-resort method that would kill some of their creatures. (or would be abused with cheap creatures)

3) Can you explain further how you see the "entire deck is in your hand for one turn"? When I read this, I thought of the screen that shows up when you finish the 500 score quest (choose one of the 12 weapons), but is that what you are thinking of?

yes i was thinking along the lines of that. looking through your whole deck that you picked for that game. and choosing one card that you can now play instantly

You would have to develop the idea further, answering questions such as:
  • What element should it use? How much quarta is appropriate?
  • Which creatures should it take? Random or choice?
  • How is the 'deck in your hand' going to be seen on the screen?
Even so, the idea seems unlikely as it is difficult to code, and as said, decks are made so that you don't have to resort to such a difficult choice like these (and therefore would not use it even if it were created!)

The game has problems with manually choosing more than 1 target during an action (like casting a spell). Such mechanics cause canceling exploits when the player is faster than the game.
  • Can't sacrifice 2 manually targeted creatures.
  • Can't sacrifice a manually targeted creature and manually choose a card from the deck.
  • Can't manually choose a card from the deck and manually choose the target for that card.
Not to mention that all costs of spells must be reversible up until the point of no return. Sacrificing creatures in not a reversible cost. All effects after a creature is sacrificed by a spell will not be able to be cancelled.
  • Sacrificing a creature cannot be a spell cost if the effect can cast a spell like freeze.
Choosing a card from the deck would require new code but that is not the difficult part.

You could have a manually chosen card go to your hand.
You could have a randomly chosen card cast. However if this card were cancelled the randomly chosen card would have to be lost or an exploit would be possible allowing people to cancel and recast until they have the card they want.
You could change from being a spell to being an ability. Abilities do not have reversible costs.
