I think an upped war would be pretty amazing as an event. Personally, I think that having a cap on upped cards (e.g. 50% including pillars/towers) would bring more deckbuilding strategy to the table, as there is now a decision to be made regarding which cards should be upped, etc. This would make it a bit more accessible to newer players, if that was a concern at all. If it's not a concern, I guess that idea can be disregarded.
But a fully upped war would be great, nonetheless. I was actually quite surprised to see the limitations on upped cards for the current War (being new and all).

stay with me now...

we have weekly tournament...and 3 out of 4 weeks (going on the theory of 4 weeks rotation) use unupgraded cards
only 1 weekly tourney is upgraded allowed (keyword being allowed meaning even those without upgrades can participate)
so thats 1/4th that people with upgraded cards can actually put their collection to good use

and then we have Beginner's League and Champion's League
well, its pretty much 50/50 there so thats that

and then we have WAR...the actual war where it is all unupgraded....with the exception of 6 upgraded cards option for Generals and 3 for Lieutenants. keep in mind everyone else are forced to use unupgraded cards...no matter how many upgraded cards they've got in their collection

now, PvP events....we encourage event ideas that are accessible to the majority...what this means is that you're more likely to see event with unupgraded cards rather than those using upgraded cards (if there are option to use upgraded cards...there will be some kind of limitation or drawback - refer to sideboard event and phat deck event)

so what are those with tons of upgraded cards to do about their massive collection?
this event provide the opportunity for these fellas to put worth all their money (so to speak)
this event was meant to be accessible to them

but i can assure you, this event is an exception rather than the norm
like i said, we normally encourage events/tournaments that are accessible to newer players
so newer players shouldnt be disheartened...you are not forgotten, not ever

I love upped PvP events and meet the card requirement.  Granted this will obviously mean less participation from newer players, but fun nevertheless.
denying players still relatively new is kind of a shame now is it? i say war is for all to participate. not some jetset group of people. if upped war does happen to see the day, i will fight to have it shut down. i have a hard time enough to fit in war, dont completely shut me down here people!

Just 4 posts above, kobisjeruk explained everything very good. Upped war would just be another event, it would not replace war. And still, majority of events in here are unupped and will stay like that.

The concept of WAR is already well established. This thread in essence is asking if the community has enough uped cards to participate, and I believe it does.

We talked about this in chat yesterday.

I think that if we start Elite War, we have two goals:

1. Elite War must be unique (not just War rules with upped cards)
2. Elite War must not be too unique (not a completely different event)

Number 1 is important because otherwise it could get boring. There's no good reason not to make Elite War unique, so we definitely should do that. Number 2 is important because it should still have something that makes it "War", and not some other event.

I have been thinking about what would be the best way to make Elite War unique, and here are some ideas.

Instead of 12 different Vaults, we could use one "Master Vault". During deckbuilding, each team would use cards found in the same Master Vault. After a loss, teams would discard those cards from the Master Vault, after which none of them teams could use them.

- Each team would have 4 players
- Each team would be given 1 of each mark (total of 12)
- Marks would be divided between the players in the team so that each would have 3 marks
- Marks act as "life points" for both individual players, and the team
- After a loss, a player must discard the mark he or she was using
- After a player has discarded 3 times, that player is out of the event
- after a team has discarded 12 times, that team is out

Basic idea here is that we would make deckbuilding really difficult by gradually decreasing the number of cards and marks that teams can use.

There would be other rules as well (to fix the apparent flaws in what I just said), but that was the basic idea. I'll post more stuff later.

^ looks promising. I only advise you not to make the rules too complex.
In the way you describe it, it seems all teams strive to be victorious while sharing the same resources, and discarding marks and players on the way. It's common ground with War is that it will be a somewhat large event centered on deck building. My only concern is with the way teams will be decided.

As long as there are people willing to put the hard work in to organize them, I say new pvp events are always good! Upped War would be epic, and a great goal to work towards for those who don't as yet have enough upped cards.

is making a war-like event but with upped cards not interesting enough?
i dont think anyone find it boring that it bears close resemblance to the actual war
after all, this is kinda like a tribute to the grand event that is war

why do we need all this master vault and marks act like life points?
i know these are just ideas but i'd rather keep it simple
work out the kinks doing this all upped because there might be some that might've slipped by
no need to make it complicated even before making a test run
