C-C-C-Combo Breaker! - Rules
Original idea by: Xenocidius   |   Developed by: Xenocidius   |   Art by: None yet   |   Organized by: Xenocidius

Skilled players face each other, making and breaking combos in duels. This is a score-based tournament.

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

Maximum amount of participants for this event is 32. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the 32 players doesn't show up during round 1.

2. COMBOS
You can use any deck you like for any duel.
This event works on a system of score. Each player starts off with 0 score at the start of the event.

While you are matched up with a player, you gain score based on combos. If you win once, you have a 1-combo, gain 10 score and can use three upgraded cards. If you win twice, you have a 2-combo, gain 20 score AND you are allowed to use six upgraded cards. For each consecutive win, you gain more score and more upgraded cards.

If you break your opponent's combo you gain score dependent on the combo number that you broke, and they lose all their upgraded cards. You now have a 1-combo. The full table is as follows with combo # and score gained (for either attaining the combo or breaking it):

Combo #Score gainedUpgraded cards allowed
1103
2206
3309
44012
55015
66018
77021
88024
99027
10200Won
If you reach a 10-combo, you obviously automatically win the round. The 200 score bonus is for being awesome enough to win the round undefeated.

The winner of a round also receives 50 score. The loser gains no extra score.

3. BRACKETS
Unlike most events, in this event you cannot be eliminated. There are 6 rounds, each lasting 5 days, in which each player is matched up against a random opponent. The winner at the end of the event is the player with the most score.

4. DUELS
Players have 5 days to make the fights happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both.

Matches are based on a HP system. Each player has 100 HP and they lose 10 HP for each duel loss.

If the fights aren't done after 5 days are up the player with the most HP wins. If both players have the same HP, the person who has a combo wins.

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

5. AFTER DUELS
A new topic will be started in the "Battle results" section for each matchup. The winner and loser should both post after each duel, listing their current combo number, current score, current HP and current amount of upgraded cards allowed.

6. WINNER
The player who attains the most score at the end of the event is the winner of the event.

7. REWARDS
The winner of the event will a forum award icon.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

A couple quick things from glancing it over......

8 players is probably too small for an event.  Generally we look for at least 20+ and only once that I can recall recently have we gone as low as 16The current timeline for the event is too long.  7 day rounds against 7 other players in the current format makes for ~49 days for the event.  We are trying to keep event lengths to 30 days.  It's already too long with only 8 players and there likely needs to be more than 8 as it is.There has been resistance in the past towards posting decks in an unrestricted deckbuilding format like this as many of the better PvP decks by players are kept secret for Leagues.  You may consider adding either some type of deckbuilding challenges to the event, or eliminating the deck posting rule
Carpe Diem!!

Alright then, I've thought of a way to have more players.

Around 20-32 players and 6 random matchups, each lasting 5 days. The deckposting rule can also be eliminated. Better?
