The Ultimate SHUT competition, are you ready?

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone on the SHUT list of champions can sign up during the first 3 days, open sign ups will begin for another 3 days for any of the remaining 32 slots. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to start.

Maximum amount of participants for this event is 32. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the 32 players doesn't show up during round 1.

2. GETTING READY
Select 4 elements at the very beginning
- From these elements, you may select one per round (do not have to publicly state which element you are choosing until the results)
- For that round, all of your deck must be at least 50% of that element, unless otherwise specified in the rules for the round
- Completely and totally unupped

3.PAIRINGS
Everyone starts on a peg board in the same row.
Every round, you will be paired with a random opponent from your row and fight in a best of 3 match
Losing knocks you down a peg
Lose 2 matches and you fall past the door and will be SHUT out.

Once 8 people remain, a single elimination tournament will begin to determine the ultimate champion.
If a round happens and we dip under 8 people, the following will occur
1.) If two people, then it's a sudden-death playoff
2.) If more than two people, then it will determined by your tiebreakers (overall record of the opponents you have defeated)
3.) If more than three people are tied with the exact same tiebreakers, either a round of best of 1 matches for sudden death or selection by RNG

Tie breaker example:
6 people survive without two losses, 4 people eliminated in the last round (A, B, C and D)
The opponent's A have played against have gone
6-0, 5-1, 0-2, 1-2, 4-2, 4-2
This is a combined 20-9
68.97% Win rate of opponent in matches

The opponent's B have played against have gone
0-2, 1-2, 2-2, 4-2, 4-2, 5-1
This is a combined 16-11
59.25% Win rate of opponent in matches

The opponent's C have played against have gone
5-1, 5-1, 4-2, 4-2, 2-2, 1-2
This is a combined 21-10
67.74% Win rate of opponent in matches

The opponent's D have played against have gone
5-1, 4-2, 4-2, 4-2, 3-2, 3-2
This is a combined 23-11
67.64% Win rate of opponent in matches

By these tiebreakers, Players A and C would move on to the top-8 tournament.

4. DUELS
- Rounds will each be 3 days long.
- Each round will be based on a different set of SHUT rules
  - This does includes SHUT we haven't yet done, or have planned special for this event!
- Matches are best-of-three. The first player who wins 2 individual duels, wins the match.
- You are allowed to change your deck (and mark) in between games, but must have at least 50% of the element you selected in the round
  - There will be exceptions to the the selection rule, but those will be stated before a round begins.
- It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

5. AFTER DUELS
Winner should post a new topic in the "Battle Results" section, along with short description of how the match went. Both the winner and the loser are required to post pictures of any decks they used.

6. WINNER
Winner of the top-8 single elimination tournament is the winner of the event.

7. REWARDS
The winner of the event will receive a forum award icon of some sort.

Looks like fun.  Kinda war-ie with the restrictions, but you gotta have rules!

I like events that have changing rules for each round. Makes things more interesting IMO.

You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

If we switched rounds from 4 days to 3 days do you think that would be a problem?  That change alone should shave close to a week off the event length.
Carpe Diem!!

No, it shouldn't. I'll change it now

EDIT: Done.
