This is a wierd idea, and it has many flaws but it should be interesting for people that like to build decks but don't have time to play them. This idea was thought of after one of SG's post about the game being mainly about deck building and luck, so I decided to see if this idea could work.
Each player Messages their deck to who ever is overseeing the tournament and then at the start of each round the decks are posted by who ever is overseeing the event and the community votes for what deck they think would win the match up. Whoever gets more votes wins.
Once a round is over a new deck will be made and you will be matched up against someone else in the next round and then a vote will be taken again.
There will be a swiss tournament followed by a top 4-8-16, depending on the number of players. Only unupped cards are allowed.
Each round a player must secretly choose a Catastrophe to befall him or her. Only the event organizer/overseer will know, you must tell them. You have 1 Catastrophe per round for every round of swiss. A Catastrophe limits the cards you may use in your deck that round. After Swiss you get all the Catastrophe cards you had before for the finals. Use one per round in the finals, you will not need to use them all.
Examples ( feel free to suggest a change please. I am making these up as I go. )
Valcano- You may only use fire creatures. ( spells and perms can be anything along with mark. )
Plauge- You must use 6 plauges in your deck.
Earth Quake- You must use 6 or more of pillers and/or Pendulums.
Metor- Must play 6 accelerations and no creatures with more than 10 health.
Tornado- Must play 10 air cards. ( not 9 or 11 but 10 on the dot! This counts pillers and Pendulums! )
Eclipse- You can not play light, Aether, Entropy, gravirty, Air, Life, time or water.
I am not saying that I want these Catastrophes but I do want them sort of element based but not all. Some that I listed seem too much while others are not enough. Remember they are just examples, I want to hear from YOU!
I am well aware that cheating might be an issue, but it would be cheating in a whole new way, it is not like it is an event where anyone is more likely to cheat, if they do it will be done in a different way, like multi accounting. I am sure we have a way to catch this but if not or if it is too much trouble then we can have people post thier votes instead of using a poll and they must have a certain number of post, this should stop most cheating.
