I will pretty this up later.

The Grind is a pvp event where each entrant starts off with a brand new account.  After signups the Event Organizer creates new accounts for each participant; in my case it might be something like plasitqegrind.

Players are then given matchups to play against others.  The first matches happen right at the start time of the event, so everyone is basically only using their starter deck cards at that point.  As the event goes on you can play with your grind account as much or as little as you like.  Any card you're able to acquire from the AI is legal.  Matches continue and after a certain point (like 2 days in) when you lose with a deck you must sell every card in that deck back to the bazaar.  EO could also do special surprise rules like on the 5th day everyone must sell all of their time cards.  Matches continue for a set amount of time until one player is determined the winner.

You may not use tournament reward codes.

You may not farm rares from a friend in pvp.

I do not like this at all.  Rewarding people for spending inordinate amounts of time grinding cards, and giving a huge headstart to those with electrum codes...It does not seem like it would be fun at all.

If you want to spend your codes to get an advantage for one event, sure.

Nothing, if that's how you'd like to spend your time go for it.

However, to address both points EO can just institute an event card on day 3 that says sell all shards or on day 4 that says sell half your upgrades.  Thanks for the feedback.

Making players grind for advantage is bad. If you wanted, you could say "you may only play 50 matches" or something to that effect.

Some starter decks are better than others. Way better. At least give every player 15 PvE games to prepare.

What's to stop players from immediately farming back the rares after they sell them? If you want to restrict the metagame, do so with "not allowed to use this card", not "Sell this card"

As it is now, this event is less on RNG and skill, as who has more time on their hands. Not a great PvP event.

Also, even if you limit people to 50 games, you can get much more money and cards by setting up a PvP farm for 50 games than by progressing as you normally would.

I think that everyone is coming at this from the wrong "me-centric" point of view, if you've been reading the "state of the forum" posts everyone is suggesting that we need more activities to get different/more people involved, if you don't like the rules for this tournament, DONT PARTAKE IN IT, if you can post something constructive EG 15 PvE games to prepare, go ahead, but plastiqe is free to ignore everything because he may have a reason for it.

Examples of "problems" and the reason why the rule is such:

Gives huge advantages to people with codes: Yes, and this could simply be considered preparing for an event!  And counter point, as plastiqe said, why would you want to spend say a nymph/mark code on a second account? I doubt anyone has as many marks as they want and 12 of every nymph. Further you can get punished for using Codes by getting forced to sell them!

Rewarding people spending inordinate amounts of time: Doesn't preparing for any tournament make you better off?  If you prepare more, aren't you likely to do better? I accept that there is a limit, but the effect is essentially the same, besides id be surprised if any of the vets were to spend as much time as some of the up and comers. This means the tournament gives a hand to the underdogs if they are willing to work for it!

What stops me from getting my friends to set up farms for me: Nothing, and eh wouldn't that be called grinding... I seem to remember something about grinding being related to this event....

Some starter decks are better than others: This could be considered part of your strategy! Work out the strongest starting deck and you could get off to an early start!  Maybe take the starter deck that ends up where you want to go so that by match 2 you have your ultimate deck.  Maybe simply take the starter deck that farms the best. All of these are options you choose that have pros and cons.

Edit:
[17:40] <summerz88> all i want people to do is say, i think that you should do this, because this has these effects
[17:40] <summerz88> rather than just going "i dont like this"

I could care less about participating in this PvP event. All I want is to ensure that PvP events are fair and skill based instead of being boring grindfests that reward who can spend more time.

Time, yes, does help in one's results in PvP, but there is still a lot of emphasis on deckbuilding and prediction. This as it is right now is nearly 90% time spending.

but hey, its "The Grind"-Event.... not sure, but i guess those people who will participate are in charge for this, grinding more and more! imho this event is not "who wins more with no cards in ?hours" but "hey, i have 6 hours to grind with my event account, so lets roll"!

Is that a really good quality event though? Like, if I made a PvP event that was just a blank page but with a small button that said "Click this button many, many times!" with the person who clicked it the most being the winner, would that be a good event?

Maybe it's not pure strategy, but grinding up a fresh account starts everyone on an even level.  Well, at the very least I suppose I succeeded in coming up with an idea that is different from other kinds of pvp events.
