The AVATAR
Original idea by: Jaymanfu & majofa   |   Developed by: Jaymanfu & majofa  |   Art by: N/A   |   Organized by: majofa

Players battle to gain mastery over the four elements: :air AIR :air, :earth EARTH :earth, :fire FIRE :fire, and :water WATER :water.

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

Maximum amount of participants for this event is 32. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the players don't show up during round 1.

2. GETTING READY
Players will be divided into 4 groups, represented by each of the four elements. There are special deck-building rules for each bending style.

Each player starts at level 0, except they're starting element, which starts at level 1.

:air AIR :air
Deft and agile. The Air benders use speed to defeat their opponents.
LevelMinimum Deck Size
040
136
233
330
*The player with the higher level Air-bending will get to go first. (If you are slower and you win the coin flip, you must pass your first turn.)

:earth EARTH :earth
Sturdy and grounded. The Earth benders use their environment to crush their opponents.
LevelMark Affinity
0MARKS: 1 || CARDS: 4
1MARKS: 2 || CARDS: 6
2MARKS: 3 || CARDS: 8
3MARKS: 4 || CARDS: 10
*The higher your bending level, the more MARKS you will randomly be given. In addition, you can also use more cards of the element of your MARK. You may only use the 'additional cards' of the mark your deck uses.

:fire FIRE :fire
Fierce and powerful. The Fire benders use fear and strength to destroy their opponents.
LevelUpgraded Cards
00
14
28
312

:water WATER :water
Wise and resourceful. The Water benders adapt to any situation and quickly outwit their opponents.
LevelElement Affinity
02
13
24
35
*The higher your bending level, the more Elements you will randomly be given.

3. GAME PLAY
Each round will consist of two phases.
- Phase I -
At the start of this phase, you will be given random elements and mark(s) [any of the 12 elements] depending on your bending levels. A random element and mark can be the same. You can only build decks using these elements and marks. You will be randomly matched up with one player from each of the other 3 Elements.

This phase will last 7 days. If you win you will gain a level in the defeated opponent's element at the end of Phase I.

- Phase II -
At the start of this phase, you will be given random elements and mark(s) depending on your bending levels. One of your elements will automatically be of your starting bending element.

You will be seeded - based on your total levels - and placed in brackets. The player who emerges victorious will gain a level in their own element. The player who doesn't win a game will be eliminated from the event.
Round 1: 2 eliminated from each element
Round 2+: 1 eliminated from each element

4. DUELS
Players have 7 days in Part I and 4 days in Part II to make their matches happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. The Event Organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final.

Matches are best-of-five. The first player who wins 3 individual games, wins the match.

You are allowed to change your deck and MARK (if legal) between each duel.

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

5. AFTER DUELS
All players must submit their results in the 'Battle Results' section. Decks and game descriptions , however, will be sent to the Event Organizer, who will edit them in at the end of each Part.

6. WINNER
The first player to reach maximum levels in all 4 elements will be crowned the new Avatar and the winner of the event.

7. REWARDS
You get to look cool like this:

The winner of the event will receive the title: 'The 1st Avatar' and the following forum award icon: TBD

Earth, Fire, Water, Air is the order they should be in if this is meant to be Avatar based (see the opening).

I'm worried that random matchmaking could result in a person having a 20-0 record without winning the event. (just like 10 men never lost in Budokan and didn't even get a chance to become the Budosei)
Seems like you need alot of luck to meet an opponent you want?

Also what do you mean with this?:
"The higher your bending level, the more MARKS you will randomly be given"

Looks very promising though! Seems like an event I would enjoy alot.

In Phase I, you face 3 players, one from each of the elements.

14-0 and you win the whole event.

I've run about 5 'test' scenarios (not sure if anyone else does this) for this event and everything seemed to run smoothly. Usually there was a winner by the 4th or 5th rounds, so the entire tournament would be between 1-2 months.

Now I guess we wait and see if this Event is chosen.  8)

Is 7 days really necessary for Phase 1?  I'm not entirely clear on whether you are paired against 3 other players at once or 1 player at a time but if you only face 1 player at a time then 7 days seems excessive.

For Earth and Water, will the Mark and Elements always be from different elements?  If not then if you get a Mark and Element paired together it seems like you lose half the benefit of Earth with the card allowance.  Maybe if they match up allow additional upgraded cards equal to the Mark card bonus in that element only?

Also for Earth, are you allowed to use the bonus cards even if you don't use that Mark in your deck?  For example let's say I get :life and :water as my Marks, can I use Forest Spirits in a Water Mark deck or do I only get to use the bonus cards from the element of the Mark I have for that specific deck?  If I can use cards from both elements, does that mean that I can use 6 of each element, or only 6 total from both elements combined?

For Marks, do players always get their own element available to them?  For example, if I am an Air element will I always be allowed to use Air as an element and Mark?  If so, do those count against the Marks and Elements available to me from Earth and Water?

On a personal note, the name seems to lack something.  Awarding an icon to someone saying they are "The 1st Avatar of The Avatar" sounds kinda weak.  Something with a little more flair to it or linked more to EtG would be awesome.  While it's not required, I think it would be cool.

So my understanding is that players deckbuilding rules start as the following for Phase 1:
Air starts with a minimum deck size of 36 cards, 1 Mark that they can only use 4 cards in, 0 upgrades, and 2 elementsEarth starts with a minimum deck size of 40 cards, 2 Marks that they can use only 6 cards in, 0 upgrades, and 2 elementsFire starts with a minimum deck size of 40 cards, 1 Mark that they can only use 4 cards in, 4 upgrades, and 2 elementsWater starts with a minimum deck size of 40 cards, 1 Mark that they can only use 4 cards in, 0 upgrades, and 3 elements[/list]
    Is that correct?

An interesting way to tie the Avatar theme into EtG better might be to expand on this more.  Instead of limiting it to the 4 elements from the movie, instead open it up and create 12 separate element categories, or 6 "paired" categories even.  This would really take it away from being directly tied into the movie theme and into more of adapting the movie into the EtG theme, both expanding on the movie and tieing it into to EtG elements.  I think that would be an excellent way to really build this event from the great idea it already is into something epic.
    Carpe Diem!!

    It's in the rules:
You will be randomly matched up with one player from each of the other 3 Elements.

They can be the same. The higher your Earth and Water bending levels, the more variety you're likely to have. Otherwise, Earth and Water become underpowered elements.

I thought about this, but probably not. The 'tribe' you come from affects your bending abilities. An Avatar should be able to adapt to any element.

How about: "The 1st Avatar"  ... then the next one would be: "The 2nd Avatar"
Each generation has it's own Avatar.

Correct, with the addition that Air gets to go first.

Expanding it to 12 separate elements would completely change the event. Becoming an Avatar is about mastering the 4 core elements, but in the case of Elements-Avatar, you really have to master all 12 elements. As such, you have to use all 12 elements to win.
I believe this event has a nice blend of EtG battling mixed with the Avatar theme.

Hopefully, I covered everything. I'll add some of these questions to the rules post for clarification, since they may come up again, otherwise.

*Side Note: This is based off the show, not the movie. The movie was ruined by bad writing, directing, and producing. >:(
