Rigged Deck unofficial event??? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=17553.msg223778#msg223778
« on: December 13, 2010, 04:47:06 pm »
So I was thinking of starting some random even that I thought would be interesting. Id probably need 1-2 people to help me out with it though, and Im not sure about how it would actually work yet... or even if it WOULD work. It would probably require to MUCH work to make it work in the first place. This would be done strictly in the forums, and this is what would happen.

The competitors would send in a "rigged" deck list to me/the people helping me. This deck would have to follow all the rules of a normal deck BUT you decide the order of the cards.

Once all competitors enter, they would be put into a bracket.

A player would be chosen at random to go first.

A topic would be made by either me or the people assisting that would say something along the lines of "Rigged Deck Event - Jmdt vs IceColdBro" and whoevers name was first would go first. (so Jmdt in this example"

They would then say what cards they played (as if they actually drew the cards in the order of the rigged deck sent), and have to follow the format listed below in their posting.

After a battle is over, then the players rigged decks would be posted and the battle would be checked for accuracy. If the players followed their decks then the battle is considered legit and the victor is declared.

Format (in the works)
NOTE! Format is easiest to read if the slots across from the quantum symbols are in 1 line.

 :darkness xx  :water xx -CTRow-|Empty-12|Empty-20|Empty-13|Empty-21|Empty-14|Empty-22|Empty-15|Empty-23|
 :death xx  :life xx -CMRow-|Empty-7|Empty-3|Empty-4|Empty-1|Empty-5|Empty-2|Empty-6|
 :earth xx  :aether xx -CBRow-|Empty-16|Empty-8|Empty-17|Empty-9|Empty-18|Empty-10|Empty-19|Empty-11|
 :fire xx  :air xx -PTRow-|Empty-6|Empty-1|Empty-7|Empty-2|Empty-8|Empty-3|Empty-9|
 :gravity xx  :entropy xx -PBRow-|Empty-15|Empty-11|Empty-16|Empty-12|Empty-17|Empty-13|Empty-18|Empty-14|Empty-19|
:time xx  :light xx -Vitals-| Health | Shield | Weapon | Mark | Cards in Hand |

Next thing that needs worked out is the game log. One is definitely going to be needed.

Im thinking just do something simple. THIS DEFINITLY needs work though...
CREATURE/PERMANENT PLAY
Play-Elite Armagio-Slot 1
Prev  :gravity = 10 - New  :gravity = 5

ABILITY PLAY (PERMANENT/CREATURE)
Activate Ability-Arctic Octopus Slot 5- Target-Slot 4
Prev :water = 5 - New  :water = 2

I have to go to work, but im posting this to see if this is something people are interested in and if people think it would actually work. Open to any and all suggestions

Quantum Towers:
The different elements will have a random number attached to them.
:aether1
:air2
:darkness3
:death4
:earth5
:entropy6
:fire7
:gravity8
:life9
:light10
:time11
:water12
Mutation:
Mutation will use random.org, and 1 of the tourney organizers (whoever is first to reach to do it that ISNT participating in the battle) will do this.
Hatch1
Freeze2
Burrow3
Destroy4
Steal5
Dive6
Heal7
Momentum8

Lycanthropy10
Scavenger11
Infection12
Gravity Pull13

So you aren't actually playing games, but simulating them with a preset order of cards?

Ok, so I decided to scratch the table idea. I got the current layout right now. Not sure about the current coloring. I am liking the layout so far though.

Nice idea.

I will keep an eye on this and see when it starts.

Almost like playing a real life version of the game.

Ahh *rigs a draw of 6 explosions in a row only to face an opponent using a pillarless rush deck*.

Would there be any sort of limitations to prevent 3 turn wins?

For CC or PC, I'm assuming you're only choosing the draw order, but what you actually play and target is determined while fighting the opponent.

I'd be willing to help/participate if everything works out.

No limitations for 3 turn wins. Im fairly certain if you have the right deck then you can stop the 3 turn wins. Some people may even choose anti 3 turn wins just to be safe. Its all part of the strategy you decide on. Need to be flexible.

Also, yeah, you ONLY choose the deck order. the cards are played out turn based. I just cant figure out what the best way to set up a game log would be so that what is happening is being communicated clearly.

What if you play a uantum tower? How is that decided, otherwise everyone can go mono but have the pillars generate 3 of the deck's element everytime it's played. Same with all other probability cards, especially mutation.

just have one person be the "tourny master" who uses some sort of RNG tool.

For quantum, they can just assign each element a number, roll d12 3 times, and put in the resulting quanta (though this might not be how the game works, it is probably close enough.)

For fate egg, just number the creatures and do the same thing.

Mutation is harder - either ban it from tourney OR "Tourny Master" just takes a photon/mutation deck to AI0 and the first mutation the tourney masters gets is what you get.
