Cut Throat - Rules
Original idea by: Kakerlake   |   Developed by: Kakerlake   |   Art by: ??   |   Organized by: ??

Players will fight to complete a set of cards and whoever is finished first wins.

HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

GETTING READY
PM the organizer a list of 8 different cards, which can't produce Quantum.
 - You must have 2 Alchemy Spells, 2 non Alchemy Spells, 2 Permaments and 2 Creatures.
 - You may not have more than 2 different Elements in those cards.
 - These cards will be important for Deckbuilding and winning condition.
 - These cards will be openly visible to anyone after the Signups.

MATCHUPS
Matchups will be chosen randomly, but you can't face the same opponent twice in a row.

POINTS
When you win a match, you will recieve points for the cards used in your deck. Each copy of a card will give you one point.
When you manage to accumulate 20 Points in one card, that card is locked and finished, meaning that you can't lose or gain any more points from that card. Also, from this point forward, you can use that card upgraded in any of your decks.

Only Points for your 6 chosen cards will be recorded.

(Yes, theoretically, you could win by round 2, practically not so much)

When you lose a match and your opponent used one or more from your chosen card, you will lose points according to the ammount of cards your opponent used.
If any of your cards ever reaches -20 Points, that card is locked and you can't use that card anymore, meaning you lost and are kicked from this event.

Player A: Antimatter (0), Abomination (12), Discord (3)
Player B: Antimatter (3), Heal (0), Forest Spirit (20)

In the 1st Match, A wins, he used 6x Antimatter, 3x Forest Spirit and 3x Discord.
A gainst points in Antimatter (6) and Discord (3)
B loses points in Antimatter (6) but not in Forest Spirit, since that is finished already.

In the 2nd Match, A wins, he used 6x Antimatter and 6x Abomination
A gains points in Antimatter (6) and Abomination (6)
B loses no points.

The 3rd Match didn't happen, both players lost by default and lost 3 Points in each Stack, leading to this scoring:
Player A: Antimatter (9), Abomination (15), Discord (3)
Player B: Antimatter (0), Heal (0), Forest Spirit (20)

DUELS
Players have 4 days to make the fight happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. Event organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final.
A lost-by-default match will give -3 to each non finished card (For each missed match), a bye will give +6 to each non finished card (For the whole matchup).

Each pairing will have to do 3 Matches. The winner will recieve points in his used cards, the loser will lose points in the cards his opponent used.

You are allowed to change your deck (and mark) at any time but you only have 5 minutes to do so. If it takes you longer than 5 minutes, it is considered a forfeit and the other player wins.

It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.

AFTER DUELS
Winner should post a new topic in the "Battle Results" section, along with short description of how the match went. Both the winner and the loser are required to post pictures of both their decks.
Additionaly, the winner will have to write seperately which cards he used for points. (To reduce the work of the Organizer)

WINNER
Whoever finished all his 6 cards first, is the winner of the event.
If there are more than one player finished at the same time, those players will have a face off with ONLY the chosen 8 cards allowed (+ Quanta producing cards) in the usual 3 matches (random pairings for each match). The one with most points wins.
For an uneven ammount of players, there will only be 2 matches each.

REWARDS
The winner of the event will receive a fancy forum award icon and some other stuff.

What is the maximum number of players?

Also, what length of time do you see it taking to run this event to completion?
Carpe Diem!!

What is the maximum number of players?
Since this event doesn't require any specific ammount of players, it is open to the organizer to set a limit.
Also, what length of time do you see it taking to run this event to completion?
This is an excellent question and I'm not really certain of the answer.
Let's take a good player, who manages to gain 6 Cardpoints in each battle (which is possible) in average.
It would take him 27 Matches, or 9 Rounds to get finished, which would resault in a 1 Month duration.
Usually folks will try to gain more than only 6 Points and the more Points someone has, the more his opponent will try to lower his points.

That one Month can easily be modified though by increasing or decreasing the ammount of required points to finish a stack of cards. You could even say that it is in the beginning 40 and will decrease each round by 1 to ensure that it takes long enough.

But to answer your question, I think this event will take ~1-3 Months until finished.

That's probably too long then.  The timeline we're aiming for with new events right is around 30-45 days.  Anything longer seems to have a dramatic rise in the number of dropouts.  What changes do you think would be best to try and get it down to that range?
Carpe Diem!!

Reducing the ammount of required Points to 18 might already reduce the time quite a bunch, since this would allow to have a stack finished already after one matchup and with this giving the advantage of upgraded cards to that player very early.

Also, you could say, for ever 5 Rounds passed, the requirements are lowered by 3, so after 10 Rounds there just has to be someone who has all stacks finished.

Forgot one thig to add: If more than one player finished all stacks at the same time, those players will have a face off with ONLY the chosen cards (+ Quanta Producing cards) in the usual 3 battles, the one with most points wins.

Can you post a list of what cards qualify for each of the categories?  It may seem obvious to many, but to some it might now be.  Especially the Alchemy Spells vs. non-Alchemy Spells distinction.
Carpe Diem!!
