??Players battle through a double elimination tournament, stealing and upgrading the decks they conquer.
1. SIGNING UPAnyone with a forum and a chat account and 20 forum posts can sign up for this event. First you should read the rules very thoroughly. Then you can sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic or if it is locked, this event is not currently active and you will have to wait for it to restart.
Maximum amount of participants for this event is
32. If the event is full you can sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the 32 players doesn't show up during round 1.
2. PREPARATION1. Build two decks of any size (from 30 to 60 cards). - One will be your winner's bracket deck and one will be your loser's bracket deck.
- You may use all cards in the game, except Voodoo Doll (
http://elementswiki.co.cc/cards-darkness/voodoo-doll-voodoo-doll/) (which is currently bugged)
- You may only use un-upgraded cards.
2. PM an image of both of your decks and to the Event Organizer.
- Use built-in forum deck image builder
- If you don't know how to do this, post on this topic and ask for help.
- It's a good idea to check the "Save a copy in my outbox" box when posting the PM so that you don't forget what deck you are supposed to use.
- if you do not PM both of your decks in time, you will be removed from the event.
3. BRACKETSThis event is a
double-elimination tournament and uses two kinds of brackets: winners brackets and losers brackets. Everyone starts out in the winners brackets. When you lose the first time, you will drop down to the losers bracket. When you lose the second time, you will be eliminated from the event. The final match will be between the winner of winners brackets, and the winner of losers brackets.
In short, if you lose two times, you are out. If you don't lose two times, you win.
4. DUELSPlayers have 4 days to make the fight happen. They must contact their opponent using a PM, and try to find a time that suits both. If the fight doesn't happen, both players lose by default, unless one player is clearly more active in trying to find a suitable time. Event organizer will determine who the most active player was, and his or her word is final.
Matches are
best-of-three. The first player who wins 2 individual duels, wins the match.
You are not allowed to change your deck between duels.
It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.
5. AFTER DUELSWinner should post a new topic in the "Battle Results" section with the decks they used, along with a short description of how the match went. The loser should then reply to that thread with the decks they used, as well as a short description if they wish.
6. UPGRADING!!6.1. Winner's BracketThe winner of a winner's bracket match has two options:
The winner uses the losers deck in the next round, and is allowed to upgrade up to 6 cards of his choice. The winner continues to use his own deck and is allowed to upgrade up to 3 cards of his choice.
The loser of a winner's bracket match may modify his loser's bracket deck to include up to 3 less than the number of upgraded cards he was previously using.
Example: If player XYZ loses a match and had 18 upgraded cards within his deck, he can now upgrade at most 15 cards within his loser's bracket deck.
For the first round, since no one will have upgraded cards, everyone who lost will use their loser's bracket deck unchanged.
6.2. Loser's BracketThe winner of a loser's bracket match has two options:
The winner uses the losers deck in the next round, and is allowed to upgrade up to 3 cards of his choice. The winner continues to use his own deck and is allowed to upgrade up to 1 cards of his choice.
The loser of a loser's bracket is out of the tournament.
7. REWARDSThe winner of the event will receive a forum award icon of unknown awesomeness.
(It is so mind-exploding-ly awesome, showing you it now would cause mass panic in the streets.)
** THOUGHTS ** The rules for this could probably be tweaked slightly, but I think it works. Both the winners bracket and the loser's bracket will potentially have the same number of upgraded cards if everyone chooses to use their opponent's deck, if not, their advantage will be to continue on with their own, knowing it works, but with less upgraded cards. For the final match, the winner's bracket champion will have a possible 30 (minimum 15) upgraded cards, whereas the loser's bracket champion will only have a possible 24 (minimum 8 ). This gives the flawless victor a slight edge in the final match and re-match if the loser's champion was to win their first match.
If a player drops out, the 'winner' gets to upgrade 5 cards in his deck and continue on with it if in the winner's bracket and 2 if in the loser's bracket. That gives them the benefit of continuing on, but not getting the full advantage of a win, but they get to keep their deck. If the loser does not post their deck, the winner gets to keep his deck and receives the full benefit of winning (6 upgraded in winners, 3 in losers).
The timing for rounds will be interesting, since on the winner's side there are 5 matches before the finals, while on the loser's side there are 9. If we time it for 4 days per loser match, the event will last ~6 weeks (40 days). If there is a better way to handle the loser's bracket within the 4 day time frame and time it for the winner's side, then the event will only go for ~4 weeks (24 days). Another option is to just make it single elimination, but I don't like that as much, give you no chance if you just had a bad day, no chance to 'come back'.
Since the decks are locked besides the upgrading, an option would be to have the TO post all 64 decks once the deck submission time is closed so that no one has the excuse of "I forgot my decks". There then would be no need for individual battle threads, just a "who won, who lost" posted by the winner, and then which of the two decks they are using for the next round and what they are upgrading. The loser would then post what cards of his loser's bracket deck he wants to upgrade. Hmmm.... this could work well, since then any 'rage annoyed' loser wouldn't need to do anything to keep the tournament running smoothly. Will have to think on this...
