Assassins - Rules
Original idea by: Demagog   l   Developed by: ??   l   Art by: ??   l   Organized by: ??

Each round a player is assigned one person that they must kill via a duel. If a player is killed, they are removed from the event. The last player in the event wins.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1. HOW TO SIGN UP
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully.

Any number of players may sign up for this event.

Post your in-game name and chat name in the sign up thread.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

2. Assassins Details
This section explains exactly how the elimination process works.

The event consists of rounds which last three days or until all players are out of challenges. At the beginning of each round, the host PM's each participant telling them who their targets are. Possible targets:

Assassination target: Beat this person in a duel to eliminate them. Losing to this person prevents you from gaining a strike due to inactivity.
Strike target: Beat this person to remove a strike and give your target a strike. Losing to this person gives you a strike.
Safety target: Beat this person in a duel to become safe for the rest of your duels this round. Losing to this person gives you a strike.
Everyone else: Beating this person prevents you from gaining a strike. Losing to this person gives you a strike.

If a player accumulates five strikes, they are removed from the event. You may gain a strike from one of the ways listed above or by not using your challenge for the round.

During a round, a player is able to challenge one person and refuse one challenge. If your challenge is refused, you are able to challenge another person, but you may not challenge the person that refused you until the next round. Challenges may be issued via any means you desire. When a challenge is refused, both players must PM the host.

Once there are fewer participants than there are types of targets, the host will remove types of targets from the bottom of the above list to the top.  If three people remain, no one will have a safety target.

When two people remain, regardless of if it is a new round or not, the two people will be given new deck building rules by the host and have three days to complete a best of five duel. The loser is eliminated from the event and the winner will be the last one standing.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3. DECKBUILDING
The host decides the deck building rules for each round.

Failure to abide by the deck building rules during a duel results in a lost duel. If both players fail to follow the deck building rules, both players receive strikes instead. The first person to make this error in the duel receives the loss.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

4. DUELS
Duels will be played in a best of three format.

Decks may be changed during a duel.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

5. AFTER DUELS
Winners post their decks in the Battle Results section after the match and a short description of how the match went. Both players will also reveal what type of target their opponent was.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

6. Rewards
The winner of the event will receive a forum icon.

Some questions:

-How long is each round?
-Is there a minimum/maximum duels per round?
-Will the deck-building rules be like tournaments or like wars?
-How many players can join?

During a round, a player is able to challenge one person and refuse one challenge. If your challenge is refused, you are able to challenge another person, but you may not challenge the person that refused you until the next round.

The maximum number of matches per round is equal to the number of players in the round. Some people may play more than one match due to being challenged by multiple people.

As for what the deck building rules will be like: For the most part they will be like tournaments. Simple rules that are different enough to make each round unique.

Any number of players may sign up for this event.

I suggest reading more carefully, since three of your questions were answered in the original post.

The length of the event would vary greatly depending upon how many players there are initially and how active people are. It would probably be a long event.

And you only know your own targets. You don't have any other information.

How long is long though?  In general 30 days is the target for event length.  Are we talking 35 days?  45 days?  60?  90?  There needs to be some sort of reasonable expectation as for when it will conclude.
Carpe Diem!!

*Note that I removed marked targets and changed safety targets to give strikes if you lose to them. Also changing strike target to give the person a strike if you beat them.

It's very difficult to say how long it would take because it depends greatly on the actions of those playing. It's not like a regular event where you know exactly how many matches will be taking place give or take.

I would suggest limiting this to 32 people (or 16?) and 2 day rounds. That or organize a mock-event where people don't actually play the matches, they just do everything else and flip a coin to see who won the match. That way you can see how many rounds it would take. Two day rounds may seem short but you can challenge anyone and 5 strikes to be eliminated is high when you also remove strikes via the strike target.

What if you lowered the elimination to 2 or 3 strikes?  That might serve to speed things up.

That would help. I didn't realize until now that I only had it at 5 because of marked targets, but I removed that so 2 or 3 would work.

There's still no way to know how long it would take, though.
