We need a Champions' Tournament.

Entry requirements:

Entrants must have won at least one official tournament.

Tournament Format:

12 rounds, no elimination swiss pairings.
Each round is randomly assigned an element. Decks built in each round must consist of at least 50% of the appropriate element's cards and must be unupgraded.

At the end of these 12 rounds, the top 8 (or 16 if there are more than 40 entrants) are put into a single-elimination tournament, with no deck restrictions. Upgraded cards are free game. Winner takes all and can declare themselves the Champion of Elements.

This is a War-scale event in terms of timescale.

Interesting question. Unless someone wants to go through the records of all the tournaments, it'd be difficult to find out. I would reckon that we'd get enough entrants to make this worthwhile, though.

Well War has the underworld. Maybe there could be a tournament for wildcard spots? There are a lot of players with no tournament wins that are better than players with tournament wins.

How would we decide who the wildcard players would be?

Well I originally thought of a quick one day mini-tourney before the main event, but that would be just like a normal weekly tournament with a worse prize. The easiest option would be voting; everyone can enter the poll and over the next week or so the names will be voted on. A final option is to have a mini-league. Anyone can enter and each player will recieve a schedule of 6-10 opponents to play during the next few weeks. The highest scores will make the main event. The problem with the mini-league is that it is too similar to an actualy pvp event. My favorite option is to simply vote on the wildcards.

Issues:

- Number of players who could actually attend this event would be minimal
- doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of deckbuilding or what happens during rounds
- lasts WAY too long

All those 3 issues are major ones.

- Number of players who could actually attend this event would be minimal
Maybe the event could be open to anyone who has gotten 1st or 2nd? If the amount is still too small it could be open to anyone that has made the top 4 in a tournament.

- doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of deckbuilding or what happens during rounds
Yes, and I would like to suggest a system of deck restrictions. Say, one deck has to be a mono deck, another deck cannot use more than 3 of one card, etc.

- lasts WAY too long
There are 12 rounds. Perhaps each round could be of 1-2 games instead of swiss, and all of the games for every round could be played over a period of a couple weeks instead of one round at a time.
Somehow still around, somewhat

Maybe this event is something for the future, then, once we have more tourney winners.

- doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of deckbuilding or what happens during rounds
I was working on the principle of KISS. As a test of the best of the best, it doesn't need to be overly complicated. The War-style restrictions should be enough IMO.

- lasts WAY too long
That is a good point. I was envisaging a sort of War-scale thing, where participants don't just win by sheer luck in a single round but by consistent performance over the course of the tournament (hence the no-elimination swiss part).
