Heres a tip: People unfairly blame or praise the current President or the Previous President for what happened in Congress or the Private sector.
Major factors in the Deficit Problem
1) Political pressure to increase Spending each year to get reelected through pork. (Over a very long period of time)
2) Unexpected recessions decreasing tax revenue
3) Government increasing deficit spending (due to their Keynesian economic model) instead of decreasing to match decreased revenue, these changes are not reversed completely after the recessions.

Budget numbers are a distraction. As long as the economy can produce it, the government can afford it. The main question we should be asking is, "
What
should the government do?" The answer, right now, is tackling unemployment head on.
