I'm with Essence. I can't stand just about anybody from either major political party, especially incumbents. I say we vote out EVERYBODY and start over.

I think not having term limits in congress is a very, very bad thing. Political positions should be considered a responsibility, not a career choice. If you want to have a chance to have a positive effect in our country, you should have a limited amount of time to do so. After serving your term, you go back to your normal career/life.

I listened to some footage of the event, and it was pretty cool. It was about how we shouldn't hate on Muslims, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar himself made a guest appearance!

More generally, though, I stopped watching the Daily Show/Colbert Report a while ago. I like them OK, but not as much since I've found much better sources of news (eg: Glenn Greenwald, Democracy Now!). But ridiculously enough, they beat the pants off of basically everything else on TV. I don't like how John Stuart made false equivalences between groups like Code Pink and the Tea Party. That's one of the worst things the media does these days: in order to appear moderate (which for some reason automatically means more credible), taking care to bash both sides equally.

Very good points, jmizzle! I also think that gerrymandering districts is a terrible evil and we would be better off with something like proportional representation that they have in many other countries.
