Presidential race watchers may be interested in the PollyVote prediction for 2012 (http://pollyvote.forecastingprinciples.com/index.php/pollyvote-2012.html). It is a combination of several forecasting models for Presidential elections.

I was leaning towards Herman Cain, but not anymore, now that I found out he won't legislate against abortion. (http://www.mediaite.com/tv/herman-cain-tells-piers-morgan-that-he-is-anti-abortion-yet-pro-choice/)

Now? I gotta lean towards Ron Paul. I disagree with his foreign policy, but agree with just about everything else. When it boils down to it, I care more about a candidate's domestic policies than foreign. (Especially when I don't agree with any candidate through and through, something has to give...)

From ronpaul.com (http://www.ronpaul.com/on-the-issues/abortion/) (a website by supporters):
Quote
“The first thing we have to do is get the federal government out of it. We don’t need a federal abortion police. That’s the last thing that we need. There has to be a criminal penalty for the person that’s committing that crime. And I think that is the abortionist. As for the punishment, I don’t think that should be up to the president to decide.”

[....]

At the same time, Ron Paul believes that the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution do not grant the federal government any authority to legalize or ban abortion. Instead, it is up to the individual states to prohibit abortion.
Would Paul as President veto a bill that bans abortion? It seems that he would.

Anyway, Paul doesn't seem likely to get the nomination. If the choice in the general election is Obama vs. Cain, would you vote for Cain? If the choice is Obama vs. Romney, would you vote for Romney?

Just FYI: They are running for President not Congress. The President can only veto a bill not write one or even vote in favor of one.

That said, I do favor Ron Paul over Herman Cain by a landslide. I care more about a politician's position on my neighbor's liberty than their position on my goals or security.

looks about 50/50 about what i expect in a country that tends to vote down party lines like this one.

just for the record though, my prediction is that herman cain will get the republican nomination. not because i would vote for him, simply because he is the definition of the ideal republican person. Generally likable business man who thinks the government should stay out of everything (with key exceptions).  and i dont think the average person votes on more than a first impression.

When I look at the might of the Tea Party in the Republican Party (don´t raise taxes ) and the gigantic national debt of the USA, I couldn´t vote for a Republican president.
The Free Democratic Party in Germany (F.D.P.) , a liberal party, tried to lower taxes and got much criticism for that, so they could have problems to come again into the national parliament again (one of probably many reasons why their popularity decreased from 14,6% to less than 5%)
Obama also was quite popular in Germany, when he began his term of office and he made a few good promises (Reduce nuclear weapons, no Guantanamo). Now, I fear that he hasn´t the might and/or the money to fulfill them.

If I were allowed to vote for president, I would vote for Obama.

I voted for Obama in 2008. In 2012, I will look at the polls for my state. If it's close, I will hold my nose and vote for him. If either Obama or his Republican opponent has a big lead in my state, I will probably vote for the Green candidate.

at this point id take ron paul over obama.  he has some damn crazy ideas but also some good ones, and neither republicans nor democrats would let him get away with the crazier ones.  hes not gonna get the nomination though, and all of the other nominees are pretty horrible.  im still holding out hope that the democrats will run someone against obama, hes a better republican than most republicans.
