Donald Trump as president?

One person who might run for the republicans in the next presidential election is Donald Trump. Opinions anyone?

Idk I think he has the financial/business/leadership background to be qualified. I also feel that he would have the backbone to really make a stand and start to fix things. I think if he becomes president huge changes will be made.

On a bad note, didn't he have to file for bankruptcy? and he seems to do some shady things to in the interest of profit.

Honestly I think trump would be a terrible president. This birther stuff is too much.

How do you know he wont just take on other issues first and keep the economy second? Look at the house republicans did this year, have they even tried to bring back jobs? Also how long until they started to move on the debt? It should have been the first things they did but I guess trying to pass things they know would never ever pass was a far higher priority to them.

Donald Trump?! I bet he'd make things even better for corporations and even worse for normal people. Not what we need right now. He'd line the pockets of the wealthy at the expense of the country until they abandon ship and we all sink. It would be Enron on a much larger scale.

If I wanted to vote for an off-the-wall conservative, I'd vote for Ron Paul. He has a long record of consistently advocating a set of principles, which is more than 99% of the people in Washington can say. I may not agree with all of those principles, but I don't think I can vote for Obama again. I feel duped after he went back on so many campaign promises. Close Guantanamo? Nah, let's just do what's politically convenient instead.

He wouldn't take you out of debt for the precise reason that he would be unwilling to raise taxes on corporations and/or high earners, and given that he'd be running on a Republican platform he would almost certainly not be willing to withdraw from the wars you are engaged in (because he'd lose most of the republican base).

You cannot cut taxes and continue military spending and attempt to deal with your budget crisis all at the same time. There aren't enough non-military government programs to cut, let alone wasteful ones. Yeah, because cutting NPR's funding and attacking collective bargaining rights is going to improve the budget whilst you're spending billions on fighting wars overseas...

I think we're taking him too seriously. I don't think he has any real expectation of winning, or he wouldn't be throwing in things like this in his platform:

Repeal the inheritance tax to offset one-time wealth tax
I would impose a one-time, 14.25% tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over $10 million. For individuals, net worth would be calculated minus the value of their principal residence. That would raise $5.7 trillion in new revenue, which we would use to pay off the entire national debt [and shore up the Social Security Trust Fund].

It's hard to imagine this actually happening. But I still stand by what I said about him as president.

His hair combs over to the right... a true republican comb over.

I would never vote for Ron Paul.

Edit: What's cool is I'm collecting petitions as a part time job and I have this one for this America's Elect and it's a centrist movement trying to get on the ballot. The great thing about it is it's non-partisan and you can vote any body as their presidential ticket. They're holding a web confrence sometime in the summer of 2012. This is a really simple website but they have an email list you can sign up for at AmericansElect.org. I think a lot of people will be interested in this this upcoming election.
