A few days ago I had a discussion about a card in the crucible that is about lab research using animals for testing. That is, in my opinion, a cruel form of torture and we have no right of doing that to another earthling.
Here you have some information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_rights

What I want to say is that this is a fantasy game and I don't really understand why there must be a card that talks about torture on animals. You maybe won't like a card that talks about explicity human torture or that insults any religion or race.
There are people in this comunity that may be affected by any of those examples, even animal torture. So I think that respect is needed in all the ways.
I'll never want to see a card that talks about seal furriers, for example.

Lets keep elements in a fantasy form. There is no need to talk about reality and/or to offense anyone with opinions reflected in the cards.

True.  A fantasy game is meant to have fantasy cards.... however it's not always a good idea to have a bottlecap on imagination.  The said card in the crucible was (hopefully) not meant to be offensive and rather encourage new strategies.  Also, people can misinterpret things sometimes and become offended on opinions that never existed.

That being said, animals have rights too, but we need to eat.  Animals make up a large part of the human diet, and although it may be comparable to cannbalism in some peoples eyes, there are people who consume burgers everyday without second thought.  I agree with banning animals from product testing though, with one slight exception in medicine testing - it may cruel,  but sometimes there are things we need to test that are too dangerous to test on a human without prerecorded data.

First of all I must clear that I don't acuse anyone. It's just an oppinion and I'm sure that anyone meant to be offensive.

I'm not against people eating animals, I'm against the torture that in most of the farms they are subject. Mutilations, cruelty, demeaning acts,... Just to asure that everyone has a good meal. That's not a reason to tolerate does things and I know that if most of people see what they are doing in the farms, they won't eat meat again.

You must see this video to realize what I'm saying: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7576567901991519153#

That's why I claim that the game remains in the fantasy and don't mention any of the real things that may hurt the sensibility of someone. Just for respect of the people that may be hurt.

Speaking of animal rights, you know that Shrödinger's cat is not exactly animal friendly... refering to an experiment involving a poisonous substance and a cat.

But it is meant to be fictional.  We're not actually going to kill a cat that way are we?  The card he is talking about on the other hand reflects something that people are doing today.

I know. Personally, I don't care one bit unless we get some gory sacrifice images, but that's not for the animals sake :). I was just trying to see it from Drobbits perspective.

You are right with Shrodinger's cat. Is really a need to use that name that refferes to an experiment of that kind? It talks also about quantic physics but it is reality and this is a fantasy game.
Why not to call it Quantic beast or Immortal beast? Why it must be a cat and why must it mention that experiment?
If there is a card that talks about concentration camps everyone will say: what the hell is this? Is not the same if we talk about animal tortures? Do we have more rights than the animals? Do we have the right to torture them?
Lets keep playing in a fantasy game. There is no need to upset anyone.

We should ban all real-life cards from Elements.

I use poison from my Parasite on a Horned Frog. Oh no! I poisoned an animal! It's going to die! Animal cruelty!

I use freeze on a Vulture. Oh no! I froze an animal! I'm hurting the animal! Animal cruelty!

I suppose a card based off a guinea pig is quite funny too, correct?

@legit: You must be proud of yourself to see those things funny. What a shame...
I've been with animals electrocuted, shooted, hit or with their heads oppen to test something in a lab. I've seen some of them die because of their wounds and still ask for a stroke. Laugh at that if you want, that says much about you.
If the game wants to talk about real things, lets talk about real things that happens in our world while people like you laugh about them.

Since scrodinhger's cat is not going to happen in real life, I consider it fair game to be in the game.  On the other hand, a test subject on experiments -well I'm not a crazy activist or anything but it is animal cruelty and therefore should be handled carefully.

I don't want to debate, but I'll just voice my opinion. I don't care much for Animal rights because, after all, they are animals. We eat them. We keep them as pets. We put them in cages and people come look at them for fun. They aren't at all like human beings, so why should we treat them like humans?
