Would it be better to split it up between ideological views. i.e. Conservative, Liberal, Libertarian? Many don't like to affiliate them self with a party but will affiliate them self with an ideology.

Also this debate came from the desire to shut down these threads so I think it would be best for it to be Republican, Democrat, and Disagree. Conservatives can support Republicans when the Republicans agree with the Conservative and likewise for Democrats and Liberals.
