Swearing is used to emphasize a statement. Overuse would render them useless. Underuse increases their potency.

Agreeing with most of the above posters.

I swear only in two situations: one, sympathetically (a friend refers to something using a swear word, and it just makes sense to use the exact same phrase); two, when I'm just so angry that I don't care (very rarely).

For what it's worth, I swear a fair amount internally (in my thoughts), but censor it when speaking to anyone. I kind of wish the words still meant something to a lot of people.

It is funny.

To be honest, I don't think you can deem swearing immoral unless culture deems it bad (just one of those things).

Other than that, I can't really see it as 'bad' if everyone is fine with it.

Honestly, I don't give much of a shit. I usually curse with my friends, who also don't really care. I do censor my language when it's not acceptable, like in a classroom, or an interview, etc.

Honestly, they're just words. They're only as hurtful or offensive as one makes them (because the last time I checked, sounds tend not to hurt a person).

Just don't use them to hurt people, because some people DO care and can be very offended.

well since I became a teenager I find myself more prone to swearing...
it's more of "cursing under your breath"
i.e. bash your face into a wall

otherwise, no swearing at all. not even with friends. WTF isn't the same as what the fuck
