but i AM being serious here. one of the tests that i heard were in philosophy classes was pretty much the teacher putting a chair on a table and describe what they see

Should we try to describe what the symbol symbolizes?
Should we try to describe what it is named after?
Should we describe the state of existence of that smiley?

The first thing the teacher did in my high school AP Psychology class was hand out paper and tell us to draw a tree. Then she collected all the pictures and we talked about all the trees. It was one of those great exercises that seems like BS at first but then leads to really crazy, creative, and even profound thought.
