Welcome, all challengers, to this season's Phat Deck PVP Event. PVP Events are much like larger, longer versions of the weekly PVP tournament, but with some restricted deckbuilding rules.
PHAT DECK EVENT RULES
1. Joining
Who can join the phat deck event?
There are no restrictions. Anyone from a beginner or a seasoned veteran is welcome to join a phat deck event!
Signing up
Sign up by posting to this thread between now and GMT 23:59 on August 7th, 2010.
Swiss Style
The Phat Deck Event will be a Swiss style tourney, with every player participating in every round, and the highest-scoring player (see Scoring, below) being the ultimate victor.
2. Getting Ready
Building decks
The only deckbuilding restriction in the phat deck event is that all decks MUST be exactly 60 cards big. Changing your deck and mark between rounds is completely allowed.
Matches
Once all players have signed up, Essence will make brackets like a normal tournament, and announce matches in this thread. Players will then have three days to play thier matches. After three days, Essence will announce the next set of matches. Matches will be best-of-three.
Winning a Match
Desynchs will be replayed unless both players agree that one player was clearly going to win the match. When a match is won, the winner will post the results to this thread along with each deck he used during the match., and then the loser will ALSO post each deck he used during the match. Keep in mind, it's critical that you copy-paste your deck code before each game, and then post them in the same order as they were used in the fights, so that accurate scoring is possible. Failure to do this will constitute cheating (see below.)
Details
Finding an opponent
You are responsible for finding and arranging a match with your opponent. BCC a copy of all PMs intended to set up a match to Essence. That way, he can tell who is making an effort and who isn't. Players who aren't will be automatically defeated by their active opponent at the end of each three-day round. Players who are both inactive OR both active and cannot agree on a time will both be eliminated.
Changing your deck
You are allowed to change your deck (and mark) in any way you choose between any fight, but you only have 3 minutes to do so. If it takes you longer than 3 minutes, it is considered a forfeit and the other player goes to next round. (For this reason, it's probably wise to come up with 5-8 decks before the event starts and have them ready to copy-paste into the Import/Export window between fights.)
Scoring
Special Scoring System --When you win a match, you gain points equal to 60+(the number of upgraded cards in your opponent's deck)-(the number of upgraded cards in your deck.) The person with the most score (not the most victories) at the end of the tournament wins. Yes, that means that an unupgraded deck that beats a completely-upgraded deck scores 120 points -- and a completely upgraded deck that beats a completely unupgraded deck scores 0. The player with the highest SCORE at the end, regardless of wins and losses, wins the event.
Cheating
We take all kind of cheating very seriously. If you get caught cheating, you automatically lose and will be banned indefinitely from all Elements community PvP and PvE events. So please play fair.
4. Other rules
Warning system
If a player quits mid-event for any reason, or disrupts the event in any way, he will receive a warning. If you get 3 warnings in a single season, you will be banned from all PvP events until the end of the NEXT season.
If you have any questions about the rules, please post them here. Thank you.
