Mostly because duels between people with greatly different timezones tend to not happen. With the current system, players can choose any opponent with a similar timezone.

But it's worth saying that many new features are experimental. We haven't seen yet what works and what doesn't.

You can. If mathman accepts, your match will be the first one where the following rules would apply:

•If your opponent's Type is super effective against yours OR resists yours, you must include 3 or more pokemon of your Type.
•If your Type is super effective against your opponent's Type, you must include 5 or more pokemon of your Type.

However, if both players agree on the terms, these two rules can be modified or ignored.
