Kongregate "closing down"

Hello.

Kongregate made an announcement which, as I see it, basically marks the end of the site.

• no new games are accepted
• no new badges will be released
• a lot of the forums will be removed.
• all chats will be removed

   -the exception to this will be a specific set of games... coincidentally it seems to me they are cash-grabbing mobile games.

In addition to this, a lot of staff got laid off without notice.

They do allow all current games to be continued to be played, as well as allow games to be updated.

I doubt this will have any impact on EtG.
It will probably have an impact on OEtG, though I'm not sure how active that is anyway.

The announcement sais they are 'going to focus on developing games', and that 'kongregate will evolve'.
I highly doubt the revenue from those games will be used to keep the 100.000+ games in the air.
I'm predicting within a year those games wont be playable anymore. I hope I'm wrong.

I doubt this will have any impact on EtG.

Well, Kong's chat was an important hub for players. This is really bad. We have to try channeling those players into this forum.
Already wrote in chat this as an option for them.

They do have mobile games, don't they? Once I tried to search Kongregate on Google PlayStore and there were about 10 games made by them.
