Flashbacks to Mew left me wanting to play it defensive, but tbh, the level gap is disappointing. Not sure how i got so over leveled.

Lugia knew Dig, but eventually I beat him down with Meteor Mashes.



Brought Lanturn back out, and surf did its job on Flareon...



And golem.



While Porygon 2 got Double Kicked in the face.

GG i guess, but I'd like a challenge again soon please.

Oh, and she gave me the TM for Shadow Punch, and i can use fly outside of battle.

Mauville Power Plant: Electrode (how thematic) with awful moves and Run Away ability.

You might want to keep that Electrode, because if you somehow find a way to put Rain Dance on him, you can buy Thunder for it in the Lilycove Department Store (unless those TMs will be randomized too - but they are still worth checking out, because they never run out. If one of them happens to be something strong, you can spam it on multiple pokémons).

Route 121 brought a nice box-warmer:

A probably Terrible May appeared!




Arbok: Thrashed by Machamp in exchange for paralysis.
Walrein: Metagross 2 shotted with Meteor mash
Feraligatr: Cradilly 2 shotted with Rock Slide
Lvl 34 Ludicolo: 1 shotted by Slacking Body Slam. Srsly, Slacking is gamebreakingly good.

Now, Department Store TMS:

Route 122's Nidorina Exploded. That was unexpected, and a bit gory.

Mt.Pyre's treecho got accidentally OHKO'd. Sorry lil guy.

The rest of Mt. Pyre was as expected. Crushed it.

Then i flew on Sealo to Lavaridge to head to the Magma hideout. Yeah. I selected 'HM moves can be used on all pokemon' but I'm not allowed to use the good ones on pokemon that couldn't learn them. So, no Surf on Metagross, but I can make bitchin HM slaves.

Magma hideout netted me....



BUT OH NO! The next pokemon was a wild Sharpedo and Tragedy Struck!



Why did I not run? Why did I not switch? OHKOh No!

I continued with only 4 usable pokemon (because i stupidly brought slave sealo), and I should note that the pokemon in here are all crazy good. Alakazam, Metagross, Sableye, Lairon, all high enough level too be a problem. The game is giving me a challenge at last!

Eventually i got through to big boss Maxie:





I have a sudden feeling that the level curve on this game is weird. i have felt hugely overleveled, and now things are much scarier. Thankfully I had the fortune to start with lanturn... and Hydro Pump OHKOed.



no sense to change, Thunder Punch smashed it.



Last one, same thing really. Maybe i was wrong about being under leveled.

Anyway, I'll leave this episode here, as I need to level a Salamance from 28 to 44.

Being able to train your pokémon freely and reusable Pokémon Centers are easy explanations for being so over-levelled.
Anyway, fun to watch so far. I am looking forward to the Pokémon League!

Well I can't train them freely, just catch up to the team level freely, so that shouldn't speed up overleveling. Once the new pokemon is at team level it can die in the wild (hence wild Sharpedo killed Camerupt)

That is what I mean: Normally, if you lose a pokémon, you would need to focus on training its replacement, thus slowing down the training of the others. So, everytime something faints, your level-advantage would get a bit smaller.

The aqua hideout boss. Will he be any more of a challenge?



Potentially problematic, switched to Lanturn, OHKO surf. His second (and last wtf) was Mantine, OHKO Thunderpunch.

Route 125 netted me a Tentecruel. Shoal Cave I accidentally killed a solrock before turning around.

That fills in the gaps. Gym #7!

I dreaded these two, because double battles can be much more volatile. Lets see what they can throw at me!



Very simple start in theory. Went for Rock Slide, and Body Slam on Ludicolo.



Another Rock Slide / Body Slam combo should do it... Body Slam went first, and OHKO'd Raichu, so they brought out Ho Oh who promptly recieved the later Rock Slide to the face. It triggered sitrus berry and left us here:



Extremespeed from Slacking for the easy win, and False Swipe TM.

Only 3 levels above them, but easy mode was had.

False Swipe should prove to be incredibly helpful in catching new teammates, if you want to sacrifice a move slot

Steven, I hope you're ready for this!

High Jump Kick took down Cradilly (I'm sure I'll regret using it at some point but not today), and next up was articuno!





Another kick, and things look a bit perilous for Machamp, so made the switch to Lanturn.

After that, it was a sumple matter of Murkrow, Masquereen and Miltank.

Underwater shenanigans lead me to the seafloor cavern, where I caught a Kangaskhan with effect spore.

Now it was Archie's Turn.

He started off with a lvl 41 Furret, that got Body Slammed by Slacking OHKO
Then a lvl 41 Medicham that got Body Slammed by Slacking OHKO
Then a lvl 43 Latias that got 2HKO'd.

Cave of Origin, caught Donphan with flash fire.

Sky Pillar had a cool little Vulpix for me.



Next up, the final Gym!

It was at this point, I realized that my last trip to the pokemon center, after defeating the gym's trainers, involved going to the box to get screenshots of that Vulpix. It did not involve any sort of healing.



I wasn't in too much trouble, but his next pokemon was Gailie, so i was planning on Machamp. It's ok, Metagross will do an even better job probably.

Well, in order to bring some excitement back into this thread I certainly won't be doing any pre-elite-4 extra training lol
