I'm not much of a pvp player. I normally stay away from community or pvp centered type games like MMOs or MOBAs. But this game has really started pushing all the right buttons against how I used to be when it came to games. It's not much, but it's more than most other games normally do for me. It's in open beta right now until the ninth and all of its content is readily available to play right away. There will be no new content released between now and the 24th when it comes out. 12 maps, 21 characters, and they all play very different from each other. And it's not so much as just a reskinned poison effect, or similar attacks on similar character types. Every character I played, which is several so far but i've only played for about an hour, each play completely different. Each of the characters abilities are completely unique. I don't think I noticed any with any similar overlapping traits.
The game play is sort of like Team Fortress meets MOBA but more TF than MOBA. I've only played LOL so i don't have a lot to compare it too but that's my best quick description of how it plays. There are objectives that your teams has to accomplish and then there is a rival team trying to either accomplish the same objective before you or stop you from doing it. Such as taking over certain areas, king-of-the-hill style capture point, and escorting a craft along a path.
I definitely recommend this game and if you are on the fence about it, try the open beta. it's only about 7gb. You can try it from battle.net
