Before, there was little room for unupgraded decks in PvP, because playing PvP with an unupgraded deck was economically not worth it. Even if you could win some electrum from other newbies, grinding AI3 would always be faster.

Now people can start PvP right away and get some decent electrum, or so I guess, so it is a change for better in their case.

With a partially upgraded deck you have a choice - either play unupgraded and use your experience rather than upgraded cards to win, or play upped PvP and I can guarantee you you will meet people with partially upgraded decks there too.

The problem is that PvP needs a way to match people of roughly equal strengths, or otherwise newbies would have to avoid PvP which is not good. On the other hand it's impossible to find you opponents with equal score because you would have to wait too long until someone with equal score presses the PvP button... so a compromise is needed (unless you can suggest something better, if you do, I'm eager to hear your suggestion).

While it is obviously good programming work and presumably useful for some people, the stats box reduces my enjoyment of the game.

I like the clean simplicity of the graphics, from which I can enjoy the feel of the game; boxes popping up as I move the mouse ends up detracting from that feel, and makes the whole thing feel somehow like I'm filling in a form rather than casting spells.

I am honestly surprised how much less fun this makes it; I've really been enjoying the game overall, and usually appreciate changes in the new versions, but I haven't enjoyed any games since the stats boxes started appearing.
I personally like the box because it's more informative. However, I don't think removing them altogether is the best option. Here's my idea:

Make a larger Options box.

First of all, we should be able to turn off the info box for players like hopcraft. We should also be able to turn off animations WITHOUT lowering quality, because I personally hate how ugly low quality is, but I don't want the animations 90% of the time. There should be also some other options besides just plain old Graphic Quality and Sound Volume.

yay on both the low-q mode and the info box! amazing job!

why the 3k card limit though? database size shouldn't really be affected (i'm really really really hoping you store the card type and count, rather than each individual instance of the card :)

i rather like it, i beat a FG because i knew which of my creatures had the highest frozen counter on it, so i used adrenaline and i had 5 unfrozen creatures come un frozen at the same time, allowing me to win the next turn *by 3 hp*

Was something else changed? I just encountered 2 False Gods in AI5! (Paradox and Dream Catcher). Quite surprising... :(

This happened on kongregate, though (refreshed browser, version is definately 1.22)

The only way more cards would increase database size is exactly what you say, so he must have done that. Thank god I already decided to quit, so I don't need to worry about things like this anymore ever again.  :P

Kurohami never said it was not useful, rather that it feels awkward next to the graphic language of the game.

The skill of the Fire nymph (the upgraded), is called berserk, costs 4 fire quanta, and does absolutely nothing, except taking quanta.
In what situation? PvP? PvAI? When you use it? When the opponent uses it?
For delreich: It was a top 50 match, and I don't have any nymphs  :(

My point of view:
a) don´t remove it, make it larger is a better way
b) yes, animations shouldn´t be linked to graphic lowerings
c) even more important to me: make elements REMEMBER my option choices!

Separate to this (especially interesting for SG and evntually Zanz):
I´ve seen Games with connected forums and ingame engines, that provides the option to create a master-account for forum/ingame or both separated -> for example the german retrogame-clone IK (http://www.ik-seite.de) ...

May i rather have opened up a new thread for this btw?

i cant see the less animation. at least the card drawing animation and the pop up picture of the cards should be turned off.
