By surprise I understand implementing it without any warning. Your reply is sadly useless.
It's pretty obvious that it will be released when it's done, since you can't really implement it before, right :D

seriously - read the rationale for stating that Duke Nukem Forever will be released 'when it's done' - i think that most of it applies here.
simply put - when the fine tuning and bug feedback will end, Zanz will implement the changes in the core game client. no way of predicting how long will it take. look back at the development cycle of Elements - was there ever any hard deadline for the next release? there are no mafia guys saying 'Zanz, finish this before 1.04.2010, 1.00am ZULU time, or will blow your head off', so i presume Zanz'll finish 1.21 beta as soon as possible. EOT?

the option for turning the music off in L6 is FTW - i just turn the damned sound off, because that tune is worse than elevator music... please, people, second this opinion - turning the music off regardless of SFX settings is sort of standard for quality flash games, ain't it?

Hmmm... apparently a lot of rage going on about the music. Honestly i don't even notice it at all and when i do at times i find it... pleasant. With that said having a music option should be implemented.

What is noise polution in the ears of one person can be music in the ears of another. And no i do not call the music in elements noise polution.

different tastes will allways be there.

examples (in random order):

rock fans are less likely to dig gospels
R&B fans prolly wont like listening to techno
Metal fans are unlikely to like hiphop
Make a drum and base fan listen to ragea(spelling) and i doubt he'll enjoy it

besides, if you disliked the FG music, why dont you just silence the game and play something in winamp?

Most of us music haters are probably doing that. At least I am. It however has multiple shortcomings: When going to the elements website music starts playing immediatly (this is not good style anyway!) a setting persisted in a cookie whether music is wanted or not would be greatly appreciated. Next problem is that the sound effects in elements are actually rather good. I especially like the "rewarding" bing of the slots. I can't easily get that when I don't want the music. Implementing a setting for disabling the music should be almost trivial and would make the game A LOT better for at least some people (including me).

I may have found a bug, I think immolates are counted as a card to play first turn since they have a 0 quantum cost. I tested it using a 30 card deck with 6 pillars and 6 immolations. Heres what I found

Every single game I got either a pillar or a immolate, now my maths not that great when it comes into factoring, and this i more for pointing out the potential of a bug more than me actually thinking theres one, but it may be that an immolate is considered a first turn card. Would be able to instantly tell if it showed when you did a mulligan (which im glad it DOESNT) and ultimately zanz will be the only one to know for sure, but i thought id just throw this possibility out there in case he determined if a mulligan was done by cost and not inputting the card itself.

The Mulligan does not make it so you get a pillar, but just so you have a card that you can play your first turn, to help prevent first turn discarding.

BP, Zanz has already said that ALL 0-casting-cost cards count toward the mulligan.  It's just one of the dangers you face when playing Immolation/Sundial (Elite)/Spark/etc.

The Mulligan does not make it so you get a pillar, but just so you have a card that you can play your first turn, to help prevent first turn discarding.
but you cant play an immolation the first turn unless you have another monster that can be sacrificed.

He does that though, so that a player doesnt have to discard the next turn.  Not because its zero cost,  all the other cards you can play the first turn even if they arent very good, where as this you cant without another card to play with it. I really dont care if its left that way, I was jsut pointing it out in case it was intended by zanz or not.

That's why I didn't use or share my code on this forum until I saw someone ask for one (and we don't really need it when we have quanta "smilies," but they don't show up in previews). I came up with it mainly so I could create separate accounts for a deck of each element, differentiated by a letter added to my original account name.

Also, I don't believe the A is silent on Aether. It's a hard 'A' sound. "Ae-thur"
I've never heard anyone pronounce the A, nor have I heard of a hard A -- only short as in "fat," long as in "fate," and broad as in "father" (which is also a short O). I have seen it spelled with the AE ligature, but I thought the ligature was pronounced as a long E. I've also seen it spelled "ether" in contexts that don't refer to an organic compound, and I've heard it pronounced "either," with a long E and a soft th.

As for the music, is there anyone else who hears no music (and does hear sound effects) coming from the game once they've logged in? As I said above, I thought Elements Radio was intended to put music in the game. I even voted for separate music and SFX on/off in the 5-improvement poll, thinking I was voting for Elements Radio to be moved from the chat to the game, and for the pause button to become a mute button.

honestly, only place besides the loading screen when music *does* exist is L6 fight during the first ~90secs. and THAT'S why it's so pissing - it's more of a radio jingle or something than of a real background music.

and nope, i like both DnB, reggae, rock, RnB, rap, etc. even more, i PLAY most of these genres (keyboards/drums) - nevertheless, ONE _SHORT_ background track replayed EVERY SINGLE TIME i grind L6 IS like elevator music. if you have to use the damned elevator every single day a couple of times, it'll give you a real killing mood ... going postal anyone?

i dont really think this is the best place to discuss the background music, zanz is well aware that many people want it, the best thing to do would be to go to http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,1431.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,1431.0.html) and vote on what you think is needed the most. Of course, the graboids were un nerfed by flooding the update section, so who knows. I still suggest voting, especially since the shrieker people were petitioning to unchange something, not to change it.
