Hammer/Gavel is worse then short sword/long sword in my opinion.
Even if you have an earth/gravity deck the extra 1 cost summon might not be all that worth it (Plus is the random quantas are the ones you need...)

Not to mention more expensive and more uglier looking :P

Also, IIRC, there are certain circumstances when, like Fahrenheit, the extra +1 damage from a Gavel will circumvent certain shields.

Then again, that might have changed with the new update.  I never did pay that much attention to that one-off circumstance.
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

just tested flying gavels/hammers with adrenaline. The adrenaline damage is calculated before the +1 hammer effect (so a flying hammer with adrenaline hits 4 x 4 damage = 16). hammers ftw?  ;D

I played a flying gavel deck in top50 which managed to beat me I was surprised by the effectiveness.

Never seemed like a good card to me, but maybe because I was never Earth/Gravity. Throw a Quantom pillar in there and hope to get that before this, then maybe its useful. But otherwise, im sticking to my Improved Steal on your weapons!

Not underpowered. It gives 7 damage for 2 random quanta!!!
Combine that with flying weapon (7 damage for 3 random quanta).
It is pretty awesome.

Its not listed here, so I figured it would be good to post its flown stats:
Hammer: 3|4
Gavel: 6|6
Spoiler for others:
Long Sword: 6|2
Short Sword: 3|2
Dagger: 2|1
Dirk: 4|1
Short Bow: 3|4
Long Bow: 6|4
Gavel is actually the ONLY type other weapon you could use a rage potion on when flown. Similarly, its also the only one that can survive a direct hit from a shockwave or lightning bolt... Not saying thats a huge thing, but its an amusing bit of info.
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?
If your zombie plan is
