Apocalypse now.
One of the greatest films I've ever seen. The helicopter raid on the village is my single favourite scene ever. Cried the first time I saw it.

Pink floyds "The wall"
Purely for the trial scene animation and soundtrack.

So many good movies posted so far!

It's nice to read this thread to remind me that there was a time when movies were actually good.  Of course, there were bad ones too but the movies cost so little back then.  I saw "E.T." in the theater for 99 cents and that included popcorn for crying out loud!  These days you pay 1/2 a million dollars to see some retread that should have been canned but they already committed too much money to it to kill it.

I know you said only post 1 movie, but let me suggest two more: "Platoon" (not a feel good movie, but very powerful.)  And "The Wizard of Oz" but with the sound down and with Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" playing instead (google it if you don't know what I'm talking about.)
Bring back Holy Cow!

My Life Without Me - A young wife and mother of two finds out she will die of cancer in a few months.  Focuses on her preparations to die.  Recommend against watching this movie a second time.
Changing Lanes - A recovering alcoholic and a Wall Street junior law firm partner who barely know each other actively try to sabotage each other's lives.
Matchstick Men - One of a duo of con men finds his long lost daughter and has to balance "work" with parenting.
Serenity - Conclusion to Joss Whedon's famous and short-lived TV series "Firefly," a utopic society comes under scrutiny when a band of mercenaries starts asking too many questions.
The Count of Monte Cristo - Based on a novel by Alexandre Dumas, an apprentice is brutally betrayed on the eve of his promotion and wedding, and after escaping from an island prison, sets out to exact revenge.
Minority Report - Based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, in the future murders are predicted and murderers imprisoned before they can harm anyone.
Frequency - A man communicates with his dead father in the past via a short band radio transmitter, and tries to keep his father from dying.
Catch Me If You Can - A brilliant teenage check forger matches wits with a detective.  Based on a true story.
