Since the Elements community just loves talking about science and what-not I'd like to know what you guys think about the fate of the universe.
Theories and etc. and dumb it down so I can understand...no alternate motive whatsoever...

What fate is there to talk about? If it's true that matter cannot be created nor destroyed, the patterns of science will be unchanging. It'll continue endlessly, scientific events constantly occurring, all of it adding up to nothing.

If the law of conservation of mass is false, however, then over time, all particles in the universe will decay and eventually, the universe will become an empty void. Anything after that is not part of this discussion, since the universe you refer to will have ended.
Perception is the source of misunderstanding.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.

I find myself going with the (forgot what it's called) theory where matter will just keep going outwards forever until the particles are so spaced out that stars cannot form anymore. I used to believe in the Big Crunch where all matter of the universe eventually we be pulled back together into the center of the universe again, but as I watched newer shows and read newer articles about things, I've been persuaded differently.

I believe that the current theory is spontaneous generation of "universes" from "nothing".
In short: Spontaneous but rare big bangs that "die" heat deaths.

Ultimate fate of the universe?

Despair.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

... I learned about something like this - bubble universe theory I think it was called - many years ago in an astro class.

But yeah it doesn't look good for our universe currently. Things are expanding too quickly for us to stand a chance.

Bubble universe theory (or Membrane theory I believe it is also called) is a bit different than what OldTrees described. He was describing something that happens through quantum mechanics.
