So... What do we call ourselves?

I have been around for quite a long time now, and I have always called EtG players "EtG players", more recently, I have seen the term "Elementalists" used, but shouldn't it be "Elementals"?


What are your thoughts?

I know elementals are the names for the AIs that we fight...not sure if they are somehow "different" than what we're supposed to be. With the exception of yu-gi-oh where I call anyone who plays a duelist, I call pretty much anyone who plays a card game a "player"

I would guess that it's two sides of the same coin. While we use the elements in our battles, making us "Elemental-ists", we ourselves are composed of the elements, thus making us Elementals.

Some other intriguing questions follow:

What makes us an Elemental of a particular category? If I use a Fire Mark am I a Fire elemental? What if I was using a Mono- Air UG deck with a Fire Mark? Would I still be a Fire Elemental? Maybe we are just generic, amorphous elemental beings whose constitution is made of the different cards in the deck? Maybe it's that overall we are the same elementals just with different elemental knowledge, as suggested by the

The Deck-Hand-Mind Theory is compatible with the Living Pillar theory. It also supports the Living Pillar Theory's claim that an elemental with a Fire Mark using a Mono Air UG deck would still be a Fire elemental. The elemental learned Air magic but requires an outside source of to use the Air magic.

Living Pillar theory:
Elementals are being composed of their element and produce quanta matching their composition. Certain more powerful elementals produce this quanta faster.
(Aka as an elemental you have a mark matching your element.)

This theory enables the possibility of elementals that are, mistakenly, ashamed of their element and avoid using its magic.

I personally agree with the Living Pillar theory

we are elementals of whatever mark we choose, and to use any other element, we require pillars/towers/pendulums, we may also harvest on powers granted to us by the sacrifice of our summons (immolation/cremation) and/or energetic cosmic events (nova/supernova), but such energy are only temporary, and are not replenished over time. for some of the most powerful elementals, powers over multiple elements could be granted to them (mark cards), however, other than the mark matching your elemental mark, all other marks are merely pillars/towers with more symbolism.
