So I just saw Skyline... https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=15686.msg200788#msg200788

Just so you know, there are no Spoilers in this thread

For those that don't know, Skyline is a new movie that recently came out. It's about aliens that come to earth and use a mysterious light to suck up people into their ships. I won't give away too much info about the movie, for those that still want to see it, but I feel I must post this somewhere, to get it off my chest.

The graphics were beautifully done. The aliens looked real (though they also seemed to resemble the aliens from the game Crisis), and the special effects with the people and aliens in the movie were very well done. In terms of visual quality, I have no complaint.

Now for the bad part. The story starts out nice. In fact, it's just like any other disaster movie (War of the Worlds, 2012, Independence Day, etc). However, after the first half hour or so, you start to see that the characters are running around in circles, the acting is below par, they always seem to make stupid decisions, and nothing is ever explained (you actually have to read WAAAAAAAAY between the lines just to understand what is going on once the movie ends).

If you think that's bad, it gets worse. You know that thing that usually goes after the beginning and middle parts of a movie? I think it's called the "ending." Yeah...this movie doesn't have it. Yup, none. Think about Pirates 2, when Barbossa walks out of the back room in the weird lady's hut, and then it just ends. Yeah, like that. The movie is set up nicely for a sequil, but without a solid ending and a lacking story, I'm not sure if anyone is going to bother seeing the second one. The concept was great, the graphics and effects were lovely, but sadly, Skyline just didn't have what it takes to be a great movie.

I'm not a review writer by any means, but I felt like I should save some people from spending $60 to see it with the family. Rent it if you must.

Overall, I give Skyline a 4/10. If anyone else has seen it, I'd like to hear some more imput.

(Also, yes, I fully understand what was happening in the movie.)

:))
Eric Balfour?  That guy is awful.
The guy from Clueless and Scrubs (Donald Faison)?  I will always seem him as a comedic sidekick and then not even that great at it.
And then they pick a bunch of pretty faces I have never heard of.  It's no surprise the acting would be bad.

Hollywood seems to get more disappointing each year.  The only movie I saw this year was Inception.  Thankfully, it was awesome and Christopher Nolan is around to make great movies.

I don't really plan on seeing any other movies this year except maybe the Harry Potter finale.

I will catch the others when they come on basic cable.

Don't really pay attention to the names of actors, but I do recognize faces. The guy from Scrubs (Christopher Turk) is a decent actor, but he's more suited for comedy. The others...? Never seen 'em before, lol.

I've been meaning to see Inception, just haven't gotten around to it. I also want to see Megamind and eventually Tangled (I like animated comedies....>_>). I'm not much of a movie buff (they take too much time away from my League of Legends or Jade Dynasty or, heaven forbid, my Elements...>.<") but I do enjoy them when I have the chance to. I'll probably post more reviews if I see any movies, probably not while in theaters, though. Those things are expensive! >.>"

Meh, movies are cheap, it's the bloody popcorn's cost that'll get you!

I was going to ask for a comparison between Skyline and a movie called "Dragon Wars." When I saw the trailer for Dragon Wars I thought it would be an interesting flick. Woe, was I wrong! I suffered through that movie! If Skyline is anything like Dragon Wars, I'll gladly skip the show.

Skyline looks better, but Dragon Wars had more of a story (I think...I haven't seen it in years). Their probably about even on a scale of 1-10. So much potential, yet poorly executed.
