Older members have more reputation and younger members have less - that seems to be the pattern on the forums, and it makes sense - older players have more time to gather reputation.
So what if we could devise a way to reflect a player's true reputation, regardless of age?
With this idea, I created Reputation Index.
First we must remove the reputation gained from posting topics and posts. The formula for this is:
Received Reputation = Reputation - 2(Number of topics started) - Post count - 100You can find the number of topics you've started by going here (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7520;area=showposts;sa=topics;start=0), then going to the last page and getting the number of the last topic in there (the first one you started).
The formula for calculating Reputation Index is:
Received Reputation / Number of PostsUsing this, I calculated the RI of Scaredgirl and the Global Moderators:
Scaredgirl

This is the formula as it stands:

2.013The formula calculated mine as being much, much higher than any of the others.
Judging from this, I'd say the formula is somewhat biased in favour of members with fewer posts.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make the formula more accurate? It would be interesting to truly see some of the members with the highest relative reputation.
And, of course, feel free to post your own RI, so we can collect some more data.
