1) A engaged to B; C engaged to D; A knew C before D; A and C like each other.

OR

2) A engaged to B; C engaged to D; A knew C before D; A and D like each other

OR

3) A engaged to B; B engaged to C; A and C like each other.

A accepts.

A and C happen to also like each other.

Unlikely scenario, and impossible if all three are exclusively heterosexual. I have actually seen this happen in 'real life', though (but not going as far as engagement)...

I'm interpreting it as:

A is in a relationship with B.  C is in a relationship with D.  B and C have a developing romantic interest where A and D do not play a significant role in.
