Interviewing for a job tomorrow, it's just a chain department store. I'm just unsure of how to dress. Suit and tie or khakis and dress shirt?

Job interview attire is generally one step in formality above what you would have to wear on the job.

definitely a nice dress shirt and tie and a sweater vest or a suit jacket will make it better(you want to make a good first impression)

When it's a formal interview and not just a "chat", you can't be overdressed.

Well, top and tails might be overdressed. But you see what I mean.
