How accurate is this? (I know, it must be exaggerated, but still...)

Sadly kinda accurate. Most people know where major countries are, like Russia, China, Australia, UK etc. but if you wanted someone to point Hungary out i bet most couldn't. I was majoring in history in college and i wouldnt be able to point out most europeon countries, middle eastern countries, or African countries.

Example: I didnt know where the Netherlands were at all. I had to google it when making the poll to see if it was by Australia or if it Europe...

Funny thing is, most Americans wouldn't be able to point out Iraq or Vietnam. 2 of the bigger wars in our history with Iraq only finishing up less than 10 years ago.

My friend sent this article to me a while ago.

anotherstateofconsciousness yooo everybody. my mom and i were goofing around and found this seriously FUCKED UP site. all your information, (phone number, nam, address even) is available for 2.99. like everything. please watch this video on how to remove it. (im not sure if it’s there for minors, but if you’ve ever owned/rented a house you’re definitely there. it’s worth checking it out to make sure.) video on how to remove information. fucked up website: http://www.spokeo.com/ also, if you’ve lived in more than one place/state it has you multiple times, remove all of your profile things. (it had my mom 4 times, all over our state. even from when she lived in a house 9 years ago.) psa over.

An american friend of mine checked and it's legit. For some money, they will give away every information about you if you ever lived in America. I heard rumors that this site was used in a few kidnappings too.

It's quite disturbing when you search your own name and it says "Your search history is secure and private. [blank] will NOT be notified about your search."

My question is for americans: How disturbing is this? Would you risk keeping your information on this site, or would you rather get rid of it as soon as possible?

This is a total invasion of privacy. Its not the only site like that though. At least you're able to remove your stuff from it... Im sure its the same in other countries, but you would surprised what people will say about themselves in public. Ive seen people talk about their sex lives and very very private stuff on facebook. If you work in retail, you could pretty much ask anyone what their Social Security number is and they will tell you. The elderly are especially bad at this.

Definitely. I imagine it's very different in Europe.
