Thanks.  I couldn't resist recording it, since I was half-ways expecting him to yell out OTYUGH!

Great job with the interview Essence.

I have to tell you guys, I was so FREAKING scared sitting there...my heart was racing like it hasn't since my wife told me she was pregnant.  I actually did pat my elbow 3x during the preview shot (before the commercial), but they cut it off before I did. :(

I don't think I've ever been that uncomfortable in my life, either.  It was literally this tiny little room with HUGE lights just off-camera, and everything that wasn't the cute little lamp-and-bookshelf behind me was straight industrial; wires and concrete and stuff was all I could see.

They set me up with an earbud and a microphone, and then left and let me sit there and stare at this totally automated camera for about 15 minutes while I listened to the show and waited for my turn.  It was so incredibly difficult to remember to look at the camera when I was answering, because the natural inclination is to look up or at least away while you think about the answer to a question.

Seriously, all around, one of the hardest 5 minutes of my life.  But SO COOL!  :)

Anyway, thanks to all of you for being supportive and cool.  And if you missed it and are interested, it's right here:

I'm real impressed you did this.
(Not that I didn't think you could)

I can only imaging the nerves that you must get, because it'll always be much scarier infront of a camera rather than before a football game. (At least that's what I think)

Congrats

I was in the chat room when it happened and we were all pumped up. It was definitely an exciting to wait for it to start.

The interview itself was a bit of a letdown because they clearly weren't interested in actually talking about the problem, they just wanted to do a lame sympathy piece like "Hey, look at this guy, he has no job!". I would have liked to see some more discussion but I guess they ran out of time.

But still, it was pretty epic. We need more community members in national tv. :)

I'll be sure to let you know when I do American Idol :-p

The funny thing is that while I watched you, Essence, I could see myself doing exactly the same things. So, while my empathy has never been the greatest, I definitely empathize with you their.

*Signs up for Britain's Got Talent*

Coincidentally, I was on TV once, but it was just in the background, this bloke interviewed our assistant headteacher whilst we were in the classroom, and there was about 5 seconds where I was visible.

Yeah, I was honestly a little upset myself over the lack of a more detailed discussion.  The sound guy did tell me afterwords that the sex-vs.-beer piece right before me had run over by nearly 2 minutes, whichI guess is why I got all of three questions.  I had so much more to say!

But I suppose that most everyone who gets live TV time feels the same way, that's why they get cut off all the time. :)

Thanks for representing the Elements community so well, even if surreptitiously.

As a side note, I wonder what he would have said if you told him it was "the robots" holding 99ers back.
Bring back Holy Cow!
