How did you get your name?

So how did you get your name? What are the origins of your forum username?

I guess as the topic starter, I'm obliged to explain my name as well, but it's a bit complicated.

It all started with an online RPG called Adventure Quest. I had to pick a character name - and for some reason I remembered an episode of the Simpsons, "Treehouse of Horror X", in which Bart and Lisa met the actor who plays Xena. I thought a name beginning with 'x' was cool, and so I named my character 'Xeno'. Later I found out that it's actually a prefix that means 'stranger' (as in xenophobia). It became my standard name across all the games I played, but I noticed something: the name Xeno was often taken for most accounts on games/websites. So I decided to tweak it a bit: taking from the suffix 'cide', which means 'death' I believe (suicide, homicide, etc.), I formed the name Xenocidius. Being so unique, it is available on pretty much any website, and has become my Internet identity.

Interesting topic.

My name is inspired by a well-known Finnish band's song "Nemo", which is "Nobody" in Latin. It came out in the same year as the movie "Finding Nemo" (I think), which makes it even more confusing.

Because of the popularity of Nemo the fish, I've had to use "SirNemo/Sir_Nemo", "MrNemoNobody", and even "Nemochrome" for DeviantArt.

I guess I got lucky here!

I guess I was in a SCIENCE! mood when I made my account. Astrocytes are a type of brain cell.
Since I'm a pretty ditzy poster and the "winner" of the forum's very first PvP Parasite, I could probably use some more of them ...

Well, it's an anagram of my name, which is pretty nice, for starters (please, don't start a guessing game here.) And it's free almost everywhere that doesn't have a strict sci-fi theme. I started with this on kongregate, where my friends now call me Aa, so i guess that also counts as a nickname, now.

Most of my RPG characters have Alein/Aleins as a name, in honor to the common misspelling i get.

Also, any Elf character i make i call Thag' Erin, in honor of my first ever forum RPG character.

The short explanation is that ffun goes with my ign "forfun", which at the time I've created it meant exactly that - an account where I would play "for fun", without any worries of having a cool sounding name or being "competitive" or "successful" in game.

Explaining it a bit further: when I began playing Elements, there used to be a cost for changing marks. Besides, I never knew which rare I wanted to get as the quest reward. So I ended up making lots of accounts, one for each element, all having names to match that said element (a dark, gloomy name for darkness; something related to flames for fire etc.). I would use the accounts to test each element and different rares, in order to decide which one was my favorite. I also made a generic account, without any of that in mind, which I named "forfun", where I would test crazy ideas or strange concepts.

As you can imagine, I couldn't make up my mind on which I preffered, and of course I found out that I didn't want to specialize exclusively in one element. So I got tired of all those accounts and saw myself playing more and more on my "for fun" account. When I eventually began gathering a reasonable amount of rares in it, I decided to make it my official account and retire the others (except for my "time" account, which is my alt).

Well, I don't think mine is terribly hard to guess, but there is a bit of a backstory to it, so I'll tell it.

I had played the game Starcraft back when it came out(The first one) and I was really young then. The game was really fun to me, and so when the second one came out, I was really excited. My friend, got the game before me, and was telling me all about it. I told him I would get it and he said that his name was goose. Goose is sort of an abbreviated way of saying his last name, Guernsey. We both knew of the movie Top Gun, where the main characters' nicknames are Goose and Maverick and we thought it'd be funny if we were goose and maverick and totally dominated the game. Suffice to say, we didn't dominate.(although I can dominate him. ) Maverick is taken most places, so I thought, hey, I like the letter 'x', so let's put an 'x' in maverick to make it more unique. Although it is taken on some places(surprisingly), I still use it most of the time.
