Any of you know much about special relativity? I have a question I'd like answered, but I need someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

I'm not asking for the formula really, just if one could be created.

Red line is the speed of light. 300,000 km/s if I remember correctly. Slope is 0 (or 0 degrees). Green line is no movement. Don't know what the slope would be (it's made up in my diagram, for all I know it could be the blue line). Does that sorta clear things up? "x" is speed, f(x) is the slope or angle of the line. We would be somewhere between the green line and the red line because we are moving, but no where near the speed of light. I'm not taking gravity into consideration though, which is a factor, so if needed just assume gravity is the same in all cases.

The picture above is basically my attempt to show the effects of speed on time (granted gravity also plays a part, but I didn't know that when I originally created this). It works similar to a regular time-line, in that movement from left to right symbolizes forward progression through time. The green line is supposed to represent a thing with no speed at all. Granted even if you are not moving, other things are moving away from you, so it could be said you are moving... so just think of the green line as the most possible time you can experience but still travel forward through time (the length of a line is "equal" to time experienced). The red line represents the fastest you can travel. The red line is the shortest possible line from start to finish, so it represents the least amount of time experienced. I hypothesize that the speed of light represents this line. The blue line represents no forward movement through time. I'm not sure how you could achieve this, but perhaps the extreme gravity of a black hole could cause this?

I wondered, first, if this is correct. Second, I wondered if a formula could be created to see that for any given speed x, the slope of the line will be f(x).

can we put gravity at 9.  .... Hmm, can't remember the next two digits. 37? Or 18.

P.S. Sorry, formulas are kinda hard to make based on a graph when you don't know what data you want to go where.

P.P.S. I won't be able to post an actual answer for this, but neither would anyone else if you hadn't explained that.

you don't give a way to find any of the variables in your picture. Even stating what they are would help.

Yep, but there may be exeptions to it, in rare cases, depeds on how good the formula is really.

Short, unconfusing answer: Yes
